The first episode of Ginga Kikoutai definitely gave off a strong Gundam Seed vibe. The art and animation style is very similar and there are epic mecha fight sequences. The premise is somewhat similar being set in colonies in outerspace where young people have to rise to the challenge and fight for freedom and whatnot in mobile suits.

When I began watching the first episode of Sasami-san I immediately thought of FLCL. The themes are super bizarre. Both of them have over the top characters and an overwhelming sense of "what the f*ck?!" when you are watching them. Symbolism, unique camera angles, heavy dialogue and imagery are key components of both. Sasami reminds me a lot of a mix between Naota and Mamimi, but instead of being homeless she's a hikikomori.

The characters are really funny and seem to have nothing better to do with their lives than going around and interacting with the rest of the cast. There doesn't seem to be much of a plot in either and both put a heavy emphasis on comedy and dialogue.

Psycho-Pass

I'm surprised this hasn't been recommended yet. Both are alluring and dark, taking the average person into a world of chaos, crime and justice. Both appeal to a mature audience and dabble with a bit of the supernatural. Psycho Pass is set in a far futuristic version of Tokyo while Durarara is present day. Amazing seiyuu Kana Hanazawa and Miyuki Sawashiro play female leads in both. Psycho Pass' main focus is crime and police while Durarara is gang violence and the not so ordinary lives of three teenagers.

They are both extremely unusual. They make you wonder what the original creators could possibly have been thinking when they made these shows. Both Jinrui and Fractale are centered on the role of humanity in a distant future where the lives that we know today have all but disappeared. The stories are very different but the art is similar and both have great music. Also, awesome voice actors.

Well, for starters they're fun romances filled with bishounen suitors. The main male characters in both have a somewhat sadistic streak to them but are lovable nonetheless. Skip beat is much longer than SLH and has more of a romcom feel where as SLH is very much centered around the reverse harem.

Personally, I love them both. I love the 90's era style of anime that they both portray fantastically. Tons of romance and emotional monologues in both :) Chibiusa in Sailor Moon is Maika's Voice Actor. Nuriko's VA is Yaten's too (little bit of gender bender in both there) :) Love one, you'll enjoy them both

I guess I never realized how much the second CCS movie and Tsubasa were alike until the second time I watched it. The moive itself is probably more similar to Tsubasa than the entire CCS series is. The premise of "emotion" "love" and "loss" are extremely prevalent in both. Also, Tsubasa is all about the Syaoran x Sakura relationship as is this movie, following the development of the 70 episode series. I definitely recommend watching this movie and the CCS series if you love Tsubasa, and vice versa. Watching one will teach you about the main characters in the other as well.

There have been few anime that make me laugh consistently throughout every single episode. There are a couple anime that have little to no plot and yet develop their characters more than several other shows combined. There are two anime that I couldn't stop watching no matter how hard I tried. These would be Gintama and School Rumble. Gintama is a parody of shounen anime while Sukuran is a parody of comedy romance. Both do an impecable job yet somehow make the viewer fall in love with the majority of the cast. Without leads like Gintoki and Harima the anime world would be a much darker place. A place without ichigo gyuunuu and goatees. I highly recommend these two comedies. You will be in stitches after every episode I promise. Both are very long running so the fun won't run out quickly either :)

The real question is: how are zetsubou sensei and bakemonogatari not alike? they have the same AMAZING Hiroshi Kamiya voicing the male protagonists and deal with incredibly dark themes and outrageous female characters. I highly recommend both series, whether you are new to anime or are an experienced watcher - give these a try!

There are so many similarities between these two shows even though the plots/stories are incredibly different. first of all, both series are very dark and involve a lot of action. the main characters in both series are incredibly alluring and the female supporting cast is epic as well. mayushii and yin are both mysterious heroines whose roles and relations to the male protagonist remain a mystery throughout the series. most of all both shows own SUSPENSE!!! great thrillers that are both a MUST WATCH!

There is a lot of "despair" in both shows. The main character in both is eccentric, and downright strange. Zetsubou Sensei is definitely a comedy which puns different aspects of life while NHK is a very deep and sad story about an individual who doesn't know the meaning of his life. The difference is whether you are in the mood to laugh or cry.

Well, first of all is the out of this world mecha action, more present in Gurren Lagaan. The sound tracks in both of these shows is fabulous. The two anime give off the same kind of feeling. The characters are all mulit-dimensional and deal with real life emotional and traumatic situations. There is also romance in both (more so in Escaflowne, by far) which adds to the story :). They are 26 episodes each and while Gurren Lagaan is much newer they are both worth watching!

Chrno Crusade and Mai Hime elicit similar emotions in the viewer. They both have heartbreaking stories and excellent heroines. Rosette and Mai are both strong-willed and desire to protect their little brothers and the other people they love. They combine the perfect amount of comedy and light hearted moments with times of despair. The coupling of happy episodes with tragic ones makes the emotional atmosphere in these shows that much more powerful. There are several epic moments in both as well as nuns haha. The same voice actor for Chrono and Nagi are in both shows. The shows were made around the same time so they have somewhat similar art and great OST's. If you enjoyed Mai Hime you would definitely like Chrno Crusade.

Both of these stories focus on the relationship between two young lovers and follow the adventure, supernatural theme. Travel is incorporated in both shows and the character development is extremely developed in both cases. Also, Chrno Crusade and the TRC series are incredibly sad and emotional but amazing nonetheless and all of the main characters in both series have downright depressing lives. Both series are 10/10 but Tsubasa's manga is better than the anime.

The similarities in these two are that viewers go in expecting the story to be explained. Both Eva and DTB leave thousands of unanswered questions as the series progress and, we as viewers want a defined outcome of the plot and to know what happened to the characters. Well, in both cases these dreams get the absolute shaft. Eva and DTB left me in a confused state with more questions than I had before and that ever familiar feeling at the end of the series: "What the f*ck???" Despite that neither of them are clear about what happened, they keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time and are very worthwhile. We all know that deep down, we love the mindf*ck feeling anyway.

Both of these stories have a dark undertone as well as complex and fascinating characters that seem crazed and demonic at times. Every episode is alluring and is as good as the last. Durarara and Death Note both manage to contain very deep story lines with a hint of supernatural to them that doesn't deter from this plot. Two of the main characters, Izaya and Light share complex and fascinating personalities that make these shows really worth watching.
