Hi! Thank you for the Santa recommendations! Even though I was planning on watching those you mentioned(since I'm pretty much aware of what most if not all that stands out narratively are due to my interests and research), I still thank you for the effort and I'll make sure to check them out eventually once their turn arrive.

In return for your effort, let me give you a couple of insightful recommendations from my side:

Your favorite: Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
My recommendation: Princess Tutu
Reason: Both are unusual twists foe their genres with darker and uncommon elements seen in such shows. There is one significant thing telling them apart: The narrative. Tutu explores its ideas more elaborately with its themes centering around the various aspects of the human heart handled in delicate harmony with its characters trapped in an authors story concept. The way Tutu handles its chaos so well makes it unparalleled in its genre narratively and is arguably one of the most well executed 2-cour shows there is. Madoka, while being a shocking spectacle and having its neat ideas simply doesn't generate the same kind of narrative endeavour the former has, it has Shafts dazzling visuals, symbols and nice production but Gen simply doesn't have the writing talent. Despite this I still like Madoka personally but as a critic I simply must say this.

Your favorites: Mushishi, Made in Abyss and Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica.
My recommendation: Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei(The Tatami Galaxy)
Reason: Tatami Galaxy contains elements which you seem to like, ranging from being mysterious like the first two to having time travel aspects like Madoka. Unlike those shows however Tatami focuses on Timelines where the MCs life is explored during the time in those timelines reflecting on various aspects regarding what life and its choices can bring in a fast paced manner where both the dialogue and imagery match side by side very well. It's the kind of unique ride where you always end up getting some interesting thoughts at the end of the journey. Unusual in both method and how well narratively executed it is. Very unique art also.
