Mahoutsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto: Natsu no Sora
add

Both are about young people leading their lives in a city. Even though Mouhoutsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto focuses on supernatural elements the way the drama unfolds is rather similar. Also, both shows focus on relationships and how people handle those relationships. Without spoiling anything the way they end is quite different but that doesn't take away from the overall atmosphere and experience.

Have you ever wanted a show filled with mysterious lands and cultures from another time? Well, these shows fit these criteria just right. Both follow young girls and their journey in a place filled with traditions they have yet to learn. They are stories about uncovering the mysteries in the places they come across and learning more about themselves in the process. There is a calm slice-of-life attribute to both of them that is soon enough replaced with a more dramatic and highly emotional tone. Haibane Renmei has a darker atmosphere while Kemono no Souja Erin could be considered suitable for all ages for the most part but has a few scenes that are more impactful and intense for younger audiences. The setting and atmosphere is similar for both of them, set in villages and reminiscent of folk tales in some aspects.

The both have a similar aura/design (the colors). There is a calmness and "summer" feeling surrounding them. While the plots are completely different the way things are portrayed is similar because they both have this realistic feel to them. I would almost say they feel naturalistic. While Niea can have an exaggerated personality Mayuku is pretty much down to Earth just like most characters in Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto.

The atmosphere in both of them is calm and it focuses on the relationship of two friends who might just be a bit more than only friends... Isshukan Friends has only hints of this however the characters are in the sense that they are sort of clueless when it comes to love.

Both are really dramatic. Also, the character´s design is somehow similar. The both deal with issues related to death and secrets and sometimes have a bit of romance. However, Shigofumi is more about people who have died rather that about people that talk about death like in Bungaku Shoujo.

Kobato and Himawari-san have similar main characters: Matsuri and Kobato, they are both somehow clumsy and not really smart, but even though they are caring. Also both manga are set in specific places: library/kinder garden. Sayaka and Himawari-san look alike. Also there are some kids in Himawari-san that face problems like in Kobato. And the both have a similar feeling generally. Although I have to say that Kobato unlike Himawari-san was fantasy and drama.
