it's a tough choice for me; i genuinely love both of them. xie lian? my affection for him is so deep that I could compose a sonata. what makes him extraordinary is that despite all the misfortunes, torture, and disasters he's faced, he remains remarkably good. his character is a perfect blend of goodness with a touch of attitude—enough to stand firm against anyone. As for hua cheng, he's like a fairy tale. despite his protective nature, he respects xie lian's decisions, even if he nervously witnesses him making daring choices (swallowing a sword, really?) it's pure love, an embodiment of genuine affection

choosing a favorite side character? easy – shi qingxuan takes the cake. he's the purest, no doubt. i think he's the guy who taught xie lian the real deal about friendship. fengqing, they're like retainers. but sqx and xl? mutual friendship vibes. that time sqx tried defending xl's purity in front of everyone? Classic. their friendship is just top-notch!
Pei Ming, let's not overlook him. he wraps up the novel with a seriously upgraded image. sure, he's been a bit of a jerk, but you can't deny he's brutally honest and genuine. even hc admits he's not a shady dude. plus, he's been a solid supporter of hualian from way back.
