You can't help but think of these stories about female detectives in a rapidly modernizing Tokyo together. Usotoki Rhetoric takes places during the heady Taisho era, whereas Kimi wa Nazotoki Ma Cherie takes place in the early Showa. The detective duos have a reversed dynamic as well with UR having the woman as the assistant (with special powers) and KwNMC having our spunky modern woman as the capable detective, but both have a compassionate outlook towards people and a budding romance with their male partner. There's even an adorable cat in both. If you like one, you should try the other.

They both involve solving cases using special powers, in Usotoki Rhetoric the female lead can hear lies, in Shirei Tantei Yakumo the male lead can see ghosts. other than solving cases the manga also concentrates on the troubles these special abilities has caused the characters that possess them. Usotoki Rhetoric is a periodic manga and is a bit more light hearted than Shinrei Tantei Yakumo.

Both the manga involve detectives solving cases and female assistants having special power use it to solve the case, both stories depict the past hardships of female lead and how they move on.

They both are mangas involving solving cases, in Ghost Hunt the cases are paranormal and is involved with ghosts and psychic powers, in Usotoki Rhetoric they are normal detective cases, but the female lead has the ability to detect lies. Usotoki Rhetoric is a periodic manga and a bit more light hearted compared to Ghost Hunt.

both are mystery series set in the Showa era.

both protagonists have the power to listen lo lies which leaded them to live lonely lives until they met a super charismatic detective like person who accept them for who they are, although Associate Professor Akira Takatsuki's Conjecture leans more towards the supernatural than Usotoki Rhetoric

One of them has siblings who have the ability to read other people's thoughts while the other has the main character who has the ability to hear lies. Due to these supernatural skills the difficulties experienced by the characters since childhood, new and strong friendships formed over time, learning to look to the future with hope... All of them make these two manga similar. Anyone who read and loved one of the them is likely to enjoy the other.

Usotoki Rhetoric and Kusuriya no Hitorigoto share similar impression as they both centers on mystery solving and lead by a female MC. While Kusuriya no Hitorigoto is a seinen, it has qualities similar with shoujo/josei manga that mainly attract female readers with its storytelling, especially with the character depth of the female MC and the slight romance - something that is also seen with Usotoki Rhetoric, a shoujo manga. Both has the romance more at the side, and focuses on the mystery aspect.

Both these manga are interesting twists on mysteries. Usotoki Rhetoric has a heroine who can hear lies, but just because someone is lying doesn't mean you know why they are lying or what the truth is. Do Not Say Mystery has an antisocial protagonist with unique views about how each person has a version of the truth. I highly recommend these mystery series as enjoyable for adults.

The main pairs of both series were bound by the female leads' skills (of major significance to the plot). Both female leads were also driven by strong desire to help the male leads and were devoted to each other. There's a slow development in the romantic aspect but they were both established well.

Kanoko and Natsume have unusual abilities that have alienated them from others since their childhood. Kanoko can hear lies and Natsume can see spirits or youkai and they hate having this ability. Despite the fact that they've been shunned and despised by people, both are kind-hearted and willing to help others. It's not until they meet Detective Souma Iwai (for Kanoko) and Nyanko-sensei(for Natsume) that they see their abilities can be used to help the people around them and begin to find people they can confide and trust in.

Yato and Souma have similar personalities: poor, yearning to be rich and famous for their job but not wanting to work hard for it, and mooching off their friends, but can be perceptive and serious when needed. Hiyori and Kanoko, the female leads, usually have to whip them back into shape before their laziness overtakes them. Both have fantastical elements, Noragami being an urban fantasy and Usotoki Rheotric a historical one.

Episodic mysteries solved by a male-female detective duo. Both have plenty of surprising twists and a hint of romance.
