Ah, Yuzumori-san. The first manga I’ve ever started reading, and now it’s over. In the end I have mixed feelings about this manga, mostly because I liked certain chapters much more than others, so I decided to write a review about it.

Yuzumori-san is a manga about a high school girl who encounters a girl who’s in elementary school and instantly falls in love with her. In that one sentence you already have a same-sex relationship and a large age gap, so people may describe the protagonist as weird or gross as she is a lesbian lolicon. However, this manga knows this and the protagonist does ... as well.

The part that makes Yuzumori-san really shine is the protagonist, as she is struggling immensely between her strong affection towards this elementary schooler, and her sense of morale which keeps her from actually laying a hand on the girl. The latter force is shown to be the strongest, but these forces get really close. This struggle is the part I liked the most about this manga. The protagonist really is a kind and innocent maiden, her “primal desires” just happen to be different from the norm.

Having said that, the biggest problem I had with this manga is that everything I talked about and makes this manga great in my opinion only really happens in the first 23 chapters, with chapters 1 through 15 being the high point. From chapter 24 onwards (and also somewhat between chapters 16 and 23) the manga doesn’t focus on these aspects as much to make room for drama. That in itself is not necessary a bad thing, but if it replaces something as great and amazing as the first 15 chapters it really becomes a shame.

That is actually about everything I have to say about this manga; I absolutely love the protagonist and what goes around inside her head, but only really that much in the first 15 chapters. The biggest “flaw” this manga had was that it chooses a different path after that and focuses more on drama and sadness, instead of embarrassment and happiness.

You should read this if:
- You like to see girls be embarrassed out of their love for someone
- You like to see sense of morale win when it comes into conflict with strong desires
- You are attracted by little girls but would never lay a hand on one of them, you want to protect them instead

You shouldn't read this if:
- You are disgusted by either homosexuals or relationships with a big age gap (remember though: this manga really is about pure and innocent love)
- You can’t handle (relatively) sad things happen to happy characters
- You are attracted by little girls and hope our protagonist will rape the other girl or something like that, if so: please get out of here you sickening bastard

Do you like lolis? Do you like Shoujo-Ai? Because if the answer to both of these is yes, you need to read this hilarious yet super-cute lolicon manga.

We are first introduced to one of our main characters, a normal 2nd year highschool girl named Mimika. At the first sight, she seems innocent but is actually a huge lolicon. After her introduction, we soon are introduced to our second main character, Yuzumori-san. She is a elementary schooler in her ... 4th grade. Yuzumori-san is cute, very captivating and a bit mysterious character at first glance which captures Mimikas attention at the first sight. This is how our story begins.

Yuzumori-san (the manga itself, not the character) is a comedic slice-of-life story about two girls getting to know eachother. The strong point of this manga is definitely it's humour so far.

The artstyle is very pleasant to eye and clean enough and the chapters aren't over long which makes the reading very easy. I love how the. Artist shifts between two or three different styles in chapters. One for the normal style which covers every normal scene where the characters either think or we are shown the background/city. Second being the cute style which is used when our main characters do something cute together, like eat ice cream and offer bites to eachother and stuff~. Last but not least the not-so-detailed, comedic artstyle which is used every now and then. It contrasts really well the cute parts.

TL;DR
Overall this easy-to-read, pleasant to eye, funny and cute at the same time -manga is a great readthrough if you are a fan of comedy and slice-of-life genres. I recommend this to everyone who enjoys a good romcom without much drama.

Yuzomori-san is one of the very true pioneers of it's kind. We are taken into the mind of young high schooler Mimika. She comes upon a young child in the park on her way to school one day and is immediately taken aback by her. Although some people might argue that it isn't deep as some people might think. I disagree completely.

We are immediately taken into an unknown and unexplored world which is of female pedophilia. Yuzomori-san is 9 years old (could be younger or older this is the age I remember). She is a tiny and frail elementary school child. Despite her precocious ... nature she posseses all of the physical qualities that children her age have. Tiny stature, a childs body, a childs face etc etc. Mimika loves that, it takes very little time for her to feel sexual attraction and romantic attraction to this little girl.

Although the story carries on fairly carefree and Mimika-s best friend just calls her a lolicon blatantly, the story is far more developed than that. Mimika deals with her realization in a unique to manga way. She struggles with her attraction, with how society percieves it, with how Yuzomori-san would percieve it.

Mimika is a female pedophile, who sadly over-steps her bounderies with Yuzomori-san instead of getting away from possibly scarring the childs life and development. However this is a manga and anything can happen. Since this is literally the true first of it's kind that involves turmoil and a legitimate cycle of falling in love with a child as an almost grown woman I can let slip that flaws in it.

Yuzomori-san is a beautiful and truly deeply rooted psychological series. That can be disguised as just being another cute manga. In truth it is anything but that, and I hope to see more manga like this eventually, with the true angst and turmoil.

10/10 worth the read.

Right off the bat, there's one thing that needs to be said upfront about this series: its main character is a lolicon, and the story is about the line she walks between friendship and infatuation with a 4th grade girl. Most people will probably choose to ignore it based on that sentence alone. But what if I told you that against all odds this manga is a work of art that handles its theme with tact and maturity? Would you reconsider?

I've never read anything quite like Yuzumori-san, but I have to say, I loved every second of it. It's like the inverse of every other ... romance series I've ever come across. Instead of hoping for their relationship to advance when the "will they or won't they?" moments happen you find yourself on the edge of your seat pleading that the main character will manage to restrain herself from acting upon her lustful urges for this gradeschooler.

You see, Yuzumori-san alternates between two very conflicting but somehow synergistic art styles: the fluffy, flowery way that the series' slice-of-life and romantic moments are drawn, and tense or disturbed panels whenever the main character's carnal desires surface or there is emotional turmoil. Our main character Mimika is acutely aware that her sexual attraction to the young Yuzumori is "wrong". Mimika spends the series agonizingly trying to resist her own deviant urges, trying to protect Yuzumori from herself while still remaining close to her. Chapters can therefore rapidly oscillate between happy, cute and funny moments of the two acting like a normal couple and angst / despair, with a feeling a bit like you've been suddenly thrown into a page of a horror manga. In spite of this, the manga never veers too far into the territory of being tragic or dark and retains the bubbly feeling of your standard slice of life yuri story.

This contrast is pulled off so well that you can find yourself simultaneously disgusted with and rooting for the main character, who is forever struggling to follow her moral compass and maintain a wholesome relationship with Yuzumori in spite of her pedophile nature. And Yuzumori herself, a precocious but lonely child, is loveable in her own right. She deeply cares for Mimika, the guileless way she interacts with the eternally anxious Mimika is hard to hate and the two make for an oddly compelling duo.

My only complaint would be that the series has very little to offer besides the one single plot device of getting Mimika flustered and having her struggle to control herself, there is very little advancement of the story before the last few chapters. But all in all, I'd recommend it to anyone, even if they'd probably give me a disgusted look for doing so.

Yuzumori-san tells a cute/insanely ballsy story about the most responsible pedophile in manga with the help of its amazing visual work and straight-forward dialogue.

Eri Ejima mentioned in the past that she was not used to drawing young girls but you wouldn't be able to tell from the drawings alone: almost every chapter she carefully details all the reasons why Mimika goes head over heels for this girl with so much care it was hard not to feel the same way myself.

Expedctedly, a recurring motif is the cuteness of Yuzumori and how out of place Mimika's love is for this girl. Time and time again ... Yuzumori hugs, sits, or even just stands in such a way that the difference in size and maturity between the two is obvious but are a perfect fit for each other nonetheless. There's a specific panel where the two are hugging and it's shown that Yuzumori's body is quite small compared to Mimika's; this image alone captures perfectly every emotion Mimika has to struggle with every time she falls more and more in love with Yuzumori.

Although there weren't many other moments were the visuals alone were so emotionally charged, Ejima does have a knack for drawing cute girls. Yuzumori is the most perfect girl in this world and it would be impossible not to agree with the characters' infatuation. Her sense of style is perfect, she's visually gorgeous with the giant glass eyes, and is quite confident.

Concluding my gushing about the manga's visual flair I have to admit that the characters are not perfect, though that is understandable given the short run time. Mimika herself has a fun goofiness to her demeanor but it would have been nice to explore further her love for Yuzumori.

But still, I am sucker for wholesome loli content and this manga has that in spades, and for that alone I have to give it a 10.

There's so many feet shots that I am not honestly not sure if it was intentional or not but I have to admit they were always immaculately drawn, so it gets bonus points for that. 11.3/10

Honestly, this is a nice manga. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea. You have to keep an open mind. While sometimes uncomfortable, it is also a very cute and lovely story at the same time. It's not always believable. The relationship seemed a little rushed. But I do think it's worth a read if you're willing.

This Manga tells a story about a high school girl named Mimika, who one day stumbled upon an elementary schooler Yuzumori and fell in love with her almost immediately.
The Story focuses heavily on Mimika’s mentality and her struggle to deal with her feelings and how falling in love with someone so much younger is unacceptable in modern society.

So far the characters weren’t that much developed, but are really interesting nonetheless.
Mimika’s thought process is unique to this series, I’ve never seen anything similar to this anywhere else. Watching her daily interactions with Yuzumori-san is a quite unusual experience too.
Yuzumori is a very unpredictable character, ... you can never guess what she’s thinking or how she’s going to react to certain situations.
Besides the main couple there is also Mimika’s friend, who reflects the readers’ way of thinking - she sees Mimika’s and Yuzumori’s relationship as something weird and uncomprehensible. So far we don’t know that much about her character, but I’m sure we will get to know her better soon enough.

The series is quite fast-paced, there’s only 16 chapters so far, but we already got a lot of content. Romance between the main couple develops constantly and is handled really well, in a short period of time we got more romance than in two seasons of Kimi ni Todoke.

Now something about the most distinguishing feature of this manga - the way of portraying the story. It’s weird. Really weird. For the majority of the series the characters are drawn in a cutesy way, so they would be as kawaii as it’s conceivably possible, but sometimes we get really unusual, very intense moments with tension as high as in some action shounen series. Suddenly you have a feeling that you’re reading some horror instead of a casual story about cute girls. Sometimes the characters have really ominous expressions on their faces, and some scenes are drawn from weird angles. As a whole it feels like something intriguing and you can’t help but ask questions like ‘’What is the author trying to convey? Does this man know how to make a manga? Why is he constantly playing with my emotions?’’

Overall Yuzumori-san is highly enjoyable, but also the most bizzare shoujo ai story I have ever read. I reccomend it to anyone who wants to read a manga from that genre, told from a really unconventional angle.

DO NOT READ. This is gross pedophile bullshit. You go "oh, is this the next girls love manga i should read?" from the cover of just the one girl's face and the GL tag, then get smacked in the face by ""lolicon"" disgustingness. The two main love interests are a high schooler and a young child. I perked up when i saw a yuri with 8 recoomended reviews and 0 mixed or negative reviews, only to read the reviews of 8 people who should be put on a watchlist. If you are a normal person, dont touch this shit with a 500000 foot pole.
