Should I start this manga? That's the question that always plagues my mind when trying to find something to read while waiting for my beloved stories to be released.
-Moderate Spoilers- (If you don't want a quick plot overview skip down to the pros and cons)
The story starts off with MC-kun along with his class being transported to another world (Isekai, who'd have thought it) where they are to be collectively trained up in order to save the world from other beings. Unfortunately for MC-kun, he is betrayed along his journey and finds himself inside what would be a bottomless dungeon, the story follows his grind

This story is an exploration of hope and despair, a journey to its extremity for those betrayed. Bewarn, our MC is a total opposite from the typical heroes found in other Manga. He is just an average boy with below average ability. But this is what makes the story an interesting read. How is the author going to narrate a story of a bullied victim, ridiculed and harassed by classmates, a below average boy that's abandoned and friendless, who's buried deep in the pit of doom?
I did find the pacing to be very fast, perhaps too fast. ... Feb 6, 2019
FOREWORD: This review contains minor spoilers for Arifureta by comparing it to other similar Isekai series.
What do you get when you cross Tate no Yuusha, No Game No Life, and enough edge to cut yourself by simply looking at it the wrong way? You get Arifureta's plot. Do you remember that one kid who, when first introduced to Dungeons and Dragons, came up with this insanely edgy character with an entire graphic novel for a backstory that had badass prosthetic limbs and absurd weapons/tools at their disposal right from the start of the campaign? That's Arifureta's main character. Ever read a fan-fiction novel written by a bored ... May 15, 2019
Before we get to talking about this manga, or any of its elements, let's first get a few things out of the way. I really enjoy OP MC stories. I really enjoy anti-heroes. I really enjoy fantasy settings. Thus, these things will definitely factor into my opinion of this manga. Keep in mind that my review will, and I fully recognize this, be more positive than what is probably average.
Like any other medium, for a manga to be successful, it must be entertaining. It must provide that hook that keeps readers going, whether it's through its (as MAL seems to categorize), story, art, or ... Feb 26, 2019
[SPOILERS ALERT!!!] [MY OPINIONS]
Been with the manga ever since labyrinth 1, I dont know how to say this but... Its great. Really looking forward to that Anime adaptation this summer but... Really hope that EP 1 of it would get as far as the cave collapse... First impression : thought it was just another MC gets transferred into another world and git gud by god blessed cheats but interestingly that was not the case. There are quite the plot twists and the comedy aspect of it just makes it the all the better. Looking forwards to the next volume too :) [Rating] For the story a 9/10 ... Aug 5, 2024
When I read a manga after watching the anime, I do so because I want more of the characters, the world or the story. Whether it's because it's more detailed or simply because it's longer - I don't care, I just want MORE. So it's quite frustrating when the manga has hardly any more detail and is even shorter than the anime...
That’s exactly what happened to me when I read “Arifureta.” It's worth mentioning that both the manga and the anime are adaptations of the light novel, but since the light novel is completed and even apparently got a pretty substantial epilogue, I assumed that ... Nov 1, 2023
Incredibly disappointing series. It's clear the author had no plans for an actual story. What started out as an interesting survival isekai, ends up being a slapstick harem comedy with no direction whatsoever. This manga should be a template on how NOT to write a compelling story. It's even more disappointing because the isekai genre has blown up in popularity, and something of this quality can't even compare to other manga that's out right now. I see people complaining about the anime adaption, but this even worse in my opinion. I don't have a single positive thing to say about this series.
