The setting for both of these series is very similar, featuring a kidnapping plot tied to abuse. They also both feature pretty twisted takes on “recovery”.

Both are yuris with really dark psychological aspects.

Both are messed up in a killing sense. To protect their castle the build to stray away unfamilars. An adult with invovlement with children and psyhopathic people around them. They're both surrounded by crappy people and strange attachment. Read if you want more.

Simiral cast but completely different setting. There is no assurance both of shows fit to one shows fans. I have only read just a tiny bit of happy life so I can´t tell about the future.

Both contains messed up views towards "love", the only thing that is different is that Happy Sugar Life is a lot more violent and dark which shows how love can sometimes result to physical altercations/abuse while Kuzo No Honkai contains mental and psychological abuse which is a lot different from the physical ones but also deals a great amount of damage. These manga shows the brutal truth that love is a very violent thing.

Both has over affection between one girl to another girl, Both has twisted, beautiful and mentally strong character who don't afraid to hurt the others for the sake of her beloved.

Both stories tell the tale of a person, which kills for the sake of a relationship. Not Happy Sugar Life, nor Killer in Love end on a happy note, which feels realistic to see them not getting away with their murders. If you like to read a more bloody, more Gore heavy manga, I would recommend Killer in Love, as it shares some distinct similarities with the way that the protagonists handle critical situations (by murder lol).

I don't want to explain something that useless to you guy, but I just want to recommend both of them are mustn't miss manga. Trust me.

Both series are about mutual lesbian love, where one party is child-like (or an actual child in happy sugar life's case) and the other is an older girl who will do just about anything to keep them together, no matter how twisted.

Plot twist at the end of the 1st chapter. The main character of Happy Sugar Life is very similar to a main character of Gakkougurashi! Both manga have the same ("heavy") atmosphere.

-Many scenes about cutesy, everyday life between the two main characters -There's a dark and underlying dread about both series (Kuro's is more about the backstories of the characters and the situation of the town while HSL's is straight yandere style) -Some mystery elements (though Kuro's is built over the whole series while HSL's is more confined to numerous, smaller mysteries that are solved with each chapter) -Small, tightly-knit cast of main/side characters, all with their own arcs and backstories (Kuro has about seven characters throughout the majority of the plot) -Adorable, black haired lolis -Yanderes (HSL goes for the Yuno Gasai approach while Kuro's is much softer)
