Fetish is a collection of eerie narratives each dealing with a different subject matter but you are left with the impression that there is an elusive connection between them due to the subtle but dense atmosphere created by these stories and linking them together.
The opening story sets the tone for the whole volume and what seems to be a fairly light read, despite being odd and at times mysterious, deceivingly creeps up on the reader. About half-way through the volume I started to really enjoy the narrative and really think about the theme and meaning behind each story. They are all different lengths and the

I've been meaning to find something like this, viewer discretion is advised, because some of the content are Psychologically disturbing.
Story: You get a different story from a different chapter, each one has a tragedian and an emotional feeling to it. In the end it will keep your mouth hanging open on what the hell did happen drastically and dramatically. But you would also be left hanging at the edge of desperately wanting to know more, as the manga lacked that i took a point out. Art: Artwork is by far surpassed the style of manga itself, i honestly thought and checked about twice whether ... Aug 8, 2018
This manga is quite an uncanny experience. It consists of five short stories connected with similar atmosphere, intriguing story and lack of knowledge about characters and surroundings.
The stories are simple, yet they are told in a way to leave an unsettling feel - we don't know whether the character is dreaming or in reality. We get a glimpse what is going on, the way the characters feel and react, doubting their perceptions and thoughts. The art is simply marvelous, the faces have amazing details and everything is top notch. The art style is very impressive and makes the manga look brilliant. The characters are simple ... OUR VAST LONELINESS - Kind of sad, but I feel like this story doesn't stick in the mind too much once you've finished it.
LOVE LETTER - Probably my favorite and the best of all the stories. I found the horror in this one very gripping and memorable. ALL OF SULLY/LILLY - I found this story a bit confusing at times, but I thought some of the artwork was memorable and certainly one of those scenes with the method of which a character is bound to be particularly striking. AIRPORT - Relatively short. I had to reread it to fully understand it, but it's fairly straightforward in ... Apr 16, 2024
Fetish is a collection of disturbing individual short stories, most of which I liked. While reading, you can sense the atmosphere of the panels, evoking feelings of impending doom, misery, or curiosity. Initially, you might not perceive these emotions at a glance, but upon closer examination, they become palpable.
The illustrations in this manga are remarkably sentimental and artistic, effectively conveying the dark emotions of human beings. Each story delves into the depths of the human psyche. In terms of content, Love Letter struck me as the weakest story. Despite its brevity, "Airport" surprises with its depth and impact compared to Love Letter. Our Vast Loneliness stands ... Jun 8, 2024
Fetish isn't about fetishism.
Fetish is a collection of short stories about both passion and obsession. A misleading synopsis can disappoint the reader, hence many ask themselves where the fetish is in a story that doesn't have one. However, the last story is probably what you are looking for. If you are interested in morbid and disturbing short stories, give this manga a chance. Fujiwara's artwork never disappoints, although the male characters look very similar. It is a pleasant read if you don't mind some crude content. As the writer Julio Cortázar once said: "The novel wins by points, the short story by knockout." Writing short stories is a ... |
