Tendou ke Monogatari is quite an unique and interesting read. It’s based on Meiji restoration period if I’m not wrong. I’m a huge fan of historical genres and am always attracted to stories from the Meiji Taisho and Showa period for some reason. And if you’re looking for some historical shoujo manga from these periods definitely give it a try.

Summary:
An abandoned girl without name was taken in by an old man who eventually died. It becomes her motive to die while saving people so that she can join the old man. One day she saves Hojou Ran, the girl supposed to marry Tendou Masato, from ... drowning and offers to take her place so that she could run away and live her life. Thus starts her life in the tendou mansion.

While it may come off as some normal historical romance story it definitely isn’t.
The story is quite dark and involves Brutal murders, harassment and all that. The Tendou family itselfis quite weird
And Ofcourse the lead who seems to have lost his soul because of various experiences which I won’t spoil.

The characters are really good.
Oh yes the art is very nice too. Masato looks stunning at times.
And the mc (substitute Ran) is very strong and trained in various martial art so that makes it a very nice read.

There is subtle romance here and there and those romantic interactions are certainly treat to the eyes however there’s a lot more going on to actually deal with romance. But whatever little is shown just makes your heart go whoosh xD

It’s still ongoing but do give it a try!
