We have once again reached the time where i have to split this into two stacks ^_^ hooray for so much shoujosei manga

A guide for anyone looking to explore more modern shoujo and not knowing where to start and optimized for variety.

This stack includes shoujo that began in 2010-2019 categorized by genre in order to cover a multitude of subjects and feature diverse stories. I tried to feature many popular and influential series that might be useful for exploring the demographic, with a few lesser known ones to add to the genre diversity.

The genres are sorted as follows:

Fantasy and Supernatural

Romcoms and Comedy
Trashy Series of Ill Repute
Isekai
Heavy Drama and Darker Themes
Episodic Slice of Life and Career Oriented stories

At least one main female character is physically strong, preferably the protagonist.

Physical strength applies both to hand-to-hand combat and proficiency in wielding weaponry (marksmanship, swordsmanship, archery etc.) as well as ability and talent in a physical sport.

No magical/supernatural power allowed unless it enhances physical strength.

The Meiji and Taisho eras spanned from 1868 to 1926, a period of modernization for Japan. When after 250+ years of self-imposed isolation (Sakoku), Japan came into contact with Western culture and got inspired by it. This period combines Japanese traditional culture with 19th century and early 20th century Western culture.

LaLa is a monthly shoujo manga magazine that comes out the 25th of every month.

Here's some of my favorite completed and ongoing manga. FUN some of these are getting English licensed this year! Some even have anime adaptations. This really is a random stack as someone who reads a lot of manga I would love if other people read these!

Spanning 6 decades, this diverse set of Shōjo and Josei manga is very much worth reading…according to some random guy on the internet.
This list includes both short and long series. I’ve sorted them by length (with ongoing series at the bottom regardless of current length).
All series are either fully scanned or officially licensed except for Dōbutsu no Oishasan, which only has a few chapters left in its scanlation.
