Though the manga definitely have some similarities (clever writing, interesting plot), what I’m really recommending is the main characters. Kotoko and Maomao both have very unique views on the world around them. They approach the mysteries that are posed to them in ways no one else would, always surprising the reader and those in-universe. And ultimately, those approaches are unique largely due to their strong personalities and variety of quirks (poison addict, spirit god, etc.). They’re both very fun to watch because of this, not only as detective-types but also because they push the plot and surroundings to fit what they want. It also frequently makes  read more

Both manga center around protagonists that deal with otherworldly beings. Yakumo (Shinrei Tantei Yakumo) dealing with ghosts, and Kotoko (Kyokou Suiri) dealing with yokai. They both have trusty assistants, Yakuma's being Haruka and Kotoko's being Kurou. These protagonists are the only ones who can deal with these phenomenons and come up with ingenious plans to do so often using chapters with lengthy dialogue explaining them. Additionally, both main protagonists have two different eyes. Basically, both are awesome manga, so read them both.

-A likeable duo goes around solving yokai's problems -One of the duo is highly respected by the yokai and viewed as a sort of 'godlike' figure -Both duos are humans, but they can see the yokai while other humans can't

The story is mostly similar in both of these Titles. Our main duo unfold the truth behind cases that they find themselves stumbling across. *Similarities* -Male lea feared by people around him. -Smart detective Loli (not actually). -In-depth investigations. Where every theory is re-enacted and explained to the readers. -Supernatural elements. -A bit of comedy and romance to ease the tension.

Both works are from the same author. Both deal about a world with supernatural activity. Both have a very strong opinionated female lead. If you like one you are bound to like the other.

both are about Youkai lore and myths. mixed in with slight horror action and mystery.

These two are slightly different from your usual detective mystery stories, as one detective suffers from memory loss, and the other detective is basically considered a queen to spirits in a supernatural genre world. They have interesting ways to approach and solve their cases, given their elements, and they are both fun to read. They also are manga that come from novel adaptations, so if you wouldn't like the manga, then maybe give the novels a try.

Both feature mystery/ crime solving involving supernatural elements with a sprinkling of comedy and a tiny bit of horror. I find them to be similar in tone with Kyouko Suiri is more action based. They also both feature duos with ties to the supernatural world to varying degrees.
