Both has historical weaponry , warfare and political themes. Also , unlike someone who also recommended these 2 mangas, no , they are not from freaking WW2 but WW1 and before it. Such ignorance about historical warfare is the reason why I'm writing this recommendation right now. Also , they are not "Elite Commanders". Tanya is a Second Lieutenant and Sophia is a freaking sniper (I have not caught up with latest chapters yet so excuse me if i'm wrong). Plus, what is enforcement ? By definition it's the process of ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, rules, standards, or social norms. What does it have  read more

Both female protagonists, used as brutal killing machines by their respective sides in war. Both struggle with their own morality, and making sense of the situation around them.

Strong female protagonists in a war setting. Both are snipers.

One of my favorite aspects to Gunslinger Girl is the degree to which the conflict seems to be written from a good understanding of terrorism, counter-terrorism, and acts of violence in general. In terms of both why and how the factions are here and the gunfights take place Groundless is a more straightforward action vehicle, though there is also some heavy, traumatic character character drama. But I would say it is the closest manga to Gunslinger Girl in how true to reality the conflict feels in it's politics and tactics. Instead of the terrorism of the Italian Years of Lead it's an all  read more
