Seinen manga centering around the lives of orphaned children growing up in a shared home. 

They are similar in the sense that they are both based on novels. Obviously Ningen Shikkaku is much darker but still these they are kinda similar as they both deal with grief. 

Eccentric protagonists and their life philosophies for going through life. Interestingly, Chiisakobee was originally also a historical drama same as Hyouge Mono, through the manga adaptation shifted it to contemporary times. 

Retake of an older literary work reimagining the concept for into a modern setting - and it actually works.
