I want to start by saying that I read in the official media of the work, a Light Novel.

Yes, it's another isekai pattern book with a story that doesn't stray too far from the norm. A protagonist who gets stuck in an RPG world. That later the world becomes real. But Kenja no Deshi manages to be really fun and pleasant. I love reading this and I also really like the characters. It's very nice to read.

Maybe you don't think the future anime is too much. But I hope you give this relaxed and fun fantasy adventure a chance. The story is good but standard. ... The art is really good, and the entertainment is fantastic.

Before I start this review I would like to say that I have only read the English web novel version, which at the time of writing only has about 84 chapters or just under six books translated.

Anyone that reads light novels on a regular basis would know that they vary widely in quality. Some make the reader wonder how exactly they reached such a low point to be reading the trash in front of them while others expand the mind with valuable life lessons. She Professed Herself the Pupil of the Wiseman is certainly on the better end of the scale, but it still has ... its flaws.

Story - 6
What makes the story stand out from most is its more thorough world building. Many isekai novels have something of a copy and pasted world. They feel like the author just went through a checklist of fantasy elements before starting to write. While Pupil of the Wiseman isn't totally free from this, it does take the original concept to new places, exploring it on a deeper level than most works. It explores how society evolves after certain amounts of time and it also discusses in part what the characters think about the changes.

Art - 9
Art is an extremely small part of light novels so this section isn't very important, but I feel it's worth saying that this series has some of my favorite pieces. Heck, one of the pictures is my background on my computer.

Character - 7
This is the strong point of the series. It's uplifting to see Mira explore the world that she thought she knew. I don't want to spoil anything so I won't go to specific, but this series has some of my favorite side characters. I only wish they had a bit more relevance. As it is the plot focuses heavily on Mira and her exploits with smaller parts given to all the others.

Enjoyment - 6
Certainly better than the average read, but I found myself wishing for more time given to the side characters. It was still fun to see Mira learning and interacting with others. I also quite enjoyed the time the author spent on world building. However, some parts felt extremely tedious and drawn out to the point that I was yawning and had to power through them. Many of the fight scenes are well written, but not the the level of true excitement. They seemed less like an important part of the novel and more like back drops to set up the plot.

Overall - 6
A fun read but not something that really stands out in either a good way or a bad one. I would suggest it as something to read when you don't have much else to do.
