Multiple factions/characters wants to pursue their ideals and to do so they have to fight other factions/characters whose goals and ideals conflict with that. Fights are usually done with some strategizing involved and death of the characters isn't shied away from. One faction also has ties to Earth, the old home of the humanity. Heavily focused on military and scifi technology, these novels are aimed primary at adult readers.
