Sometimes love hits you right away, but you're too shy to confess.
Sometimes love grows on you gradually until you finally realize your feelings.
Blue Sky Complex is a perfect emulsion of these two types of love.
The characters were easy to relate to and their relationship developed at a pace that was both realistic and enjoyable. As an avid reader of yaoi, it has been a while since I've read a storyline as genuine and beautiful as the one in Blue Sky Complex.
The main protagonist, Nagasaki, is atypical, exhibiting a soft, cool impression that balances his counterpart, Tersashima whom is tense, impulsive, and full of

This series needs more love. It seems like a cliché "honor student likes delinquent" story but it's so much more than that.
Story: What I really liked was how their relationship slowly built up, from strangers who have to sit at the library fron desk for a few weeks, to friends, to lovers. It's extremely realistic and adorable. Sometimes the pacing was a bit tough to follow but what's no to love with a relationship between two boys, polar opposites, yet they both like reading? Characters: the absolute selling point, they are funny, realistic, relatable... The two mains really shine, as they show the complexities of young ... Dec 2, 2022
I cannot possibly express all the praise I want to give Blue Sky Complex but I can conidently say that it's one of the best romance manga ever written. The only proof you need that it is possible to turn a common cliche (honors student x delinquent) into a uniquely beautiful & gripping story. I greatly admire how Ichikawa Kei is able to make the reader feel such strong emotions with such matter-of-fact and hilarious (when it needs to be) story-telling. The relationship between the lead characters is so well-written and I feel like I've grown alongside them from confused & embarrassing high school students

Despite the overly-used straight-laced honors student x misunderstood delinquent troupe this series is fantastic. This is possibly the cutest yaoi I’ve ever read. That might sound weird but it is heavily focused on Chika and Natsuki’s relationship. While there are quite a few sex scenes, they are not quite as lewd as most in the BL genre and it starts off pretty slow in that aspect so if you’re looking for lots of smut this series might not be for you.
The main draw to this series is the characters. I wasn’t sure if I really liked Chika at the beginning but he grew on me. ... Mar 21, 2018
Straight-laced honour student meets tough delinquent. This clique has been used a multitude of times. Yet the way that Kei Ichikawa writes the story of Blue Sky Complex changes the feel of the clique and makes for an innocent story about love and acceptance of yourself. The two main characters both fall in love in different parts of the story and under different circumstances. Terashima fell in love with Narasaki at first sight, while Narasaki, after spending more time with Terashima, finds himself drawn to him, and eventually this attraction turns to love. It’s a story of two strangers becoming lovers, and due to its

Is their relationship perfect?? YES! Is it unrealistic? Probably? Should all relationships be this loving and considerate and not so full of our childhood and relationships traumas because our culture has beaten care and consideration out of us?? OF COURSE. But we don't have a culture like that, and nearly everyone has a trauma of some kind so, SURE, this story seems too perfect but you know what?!
This is probably the BEST example of what relationship would lookie, and should look like, when they have nothing but love for one another. No self sabotage, no taking things personally, no blaming everyone else for everything and only ... |
