Portrayal of a historical period in Europe (with some poetic licence applied) focused on psychology of the characters and their character developement, with some royal politics and gender (non-cringe) themes. Also, violence. 

The stories are similar but you can feel on them the same tragic and aura, both are historical and black comedy, the art is awesome in them too. 

Both are dark, historical stories with a similar operaic feel to them. 

The two of them have a dark side and aura, the atmosphere make you feel the same thing and both of them are historical, tragedy, psychological and dystopia. The most important there is Pandora Hearts and Baraou no Souretsu are my best manga for me. 

While the settings are very different (modern day Japan in Death Note, medieval England in Bara no Souretsu), both are dark stories with power-hungry, villainous protagonists. 

Both are dark and twisted spooky af gothic stories with a focus on drama and unusual characters. 

so both stories are set in a fictional gothic stylization of Victorian London and have a deeply troubled mc of noble standing going through a series of inner turmoil and having deal with other turmoil as well too regarding his position. 

Both are gothic themed Victorian stories with darkly toned characters as well as lots of edge in it as well too and mystery too. 

Both have Victorian inspired settings with a gothic inspired influence to its aesthetics and especially its storytelling too. 

both tradegy dark manga about young unmatured boys who hate society and force their way to the world domination and neither succeeds 

Requiem of the rose king and Children of the whales are similar because of the dark storyline and fantasy, while being classed on the shojo genre. This is really special because shojo mangas are most of the time love story’s towered towards girls. So if you searching for a dark fantasy shojo like Requiem of the Rose king, then maybe this is something for you. It’s intriguing story line reveals many heavy plottwists, while being surrounded by a absolutely gorgeous drawing style.  

Showing dark period of ancient England, flowered with (might or might not necessarily) pretty ikemens. - Both have a lot of flower symbolism (if you squint hard enough) - Contains mxm dynamics, some platonics, some others are blatantly clear - Interesting MC angle 

LMAO what the fuck surprised this wasn't rec'd before but fuck it lets do it now! XD Now it has gender identity lgbt related stuff as well as lots of conflict and action as well as nice art and character designs to look at as well too. 

Both are dark themed gothic stylized stories focusing around a troubled mc who gets caught up in a war that determines destiny of not only himself but also his loved ones as well too and some elements of romance in it too.

7-nin no shakespeare and Baraou no Souretsu are both from an popular classical books by the same autor (shakespeare) But 7 nin no shakespeare is a TOO bad manga, in another side BnS is the best.

If you're a fan of Berserk's Golden Age arc, you should definitely give this one a try. Baraou no Souretsu (Requiem of the Rose King) has medieval setting, political scheming, war, drama, good characters, and a strong, complex and tragic protagonist. 

A royalty is hiding their true sex, so they don't lose the right to rule their kingdom. 

Both being based around suspense and dark storytelling as well as characters with different sides to them specially darker ones like the mc being troubled due his nature as well too and also nice art and character designs too. 

These historical manga both consider gender issues in an historical context. In Joan, Emil, or Emily, was raised as a boy for her protection, while in Baraou no Souretsu, Richard was born intersex. Battles and warfare are the setting for political power-plays for European royalty. The main characters in both manga also see visions of Joan of Arc, who talks to them about their personal issues. 

While Baraou no Souretsu takes place in England during the Wars of the Roses, Cantarella'story depicts the Borgia'struggle around the same time in Italy. - Both stories takes place in the mid XVI century and present European political situation with countries engulfed in civil wars. - Both main characters are associated to sadly notorious real person, Richard III and Cesare Borgia. In these stories, their darkness is rehaussed by the use of the fantastique genre which associate both characters with demons and/or monsters. - Characters were cursed at birth and born physically different from other people, but shines above everyone else thanks to their mind skills. - Feelings, love, and sometimes attraction to the other sex are their weakness and both struggles to get rid of it in order to become the ultimate sovereign.
