“The Flowers of Evil” is a fairly well known title written by Charles Baudelaire, which became infamous for its themes on blasphemy, immorality and decency, accompanied by beauty, at the end of the 18th century.
In fact, I have to premise this because the story of this manhwa starts off right from the first chapter with a “love story” between twins, so this can either turn you away from reading this or the contrary. There’s no in between.
This isn’t a love story, or a comedy. It’s a story very much like the original “The Flowers of Evil” where the themes of indecency, immorality and blasphemy are
...
the central piece of this manhwa.
We wouldn’t have this without the characters making the choices that they make. They are all well fleshed out, incredibly beautiful, bringing a striking contrast between the themes of the manga with the drawings. This is to point out that there can also be beauty in the ugly and what we don’t understand.
It’s an incredible study in character and the boundaries that one can push before it becomes all too indecent to even read.
To make it even more interesting the climax of this story is incredibly well done.
I have to point out that this is not psychological or traumatizing like other series of the same “kind”. You have to look at this like a social experiment like you would watch reality television shows.
A read for the people looking for something brainy.
