They are both are about death and how it affects the people around them. Death sweeper mostly focuses on cleaning up what's left of the body, its aftermath ect. While Shigeshoushi, also known as "The Embalmer" centers its plot around the profession of beautifying the corpses to make the individual look as they did before they pershied. Both are a little gruesome but both are enlightening and are worth the read.

Gothic and with strong fixations on mortality.

Reminiscing about the past with pain and eventually tearful acceptance. Death is a subject which is strongly connected to both these manga.

Captivating and kinda gothic art style. Both mangas have to do something with death and human emotions.

The premise is entirely different but: -> both are about people who need to go forward but they can't do it alone -> both are very mature stories about life and different kinds of love -> both are made up of short stories with special morals -> grief is important theme in both of them -> you will cry in both of them

Both have a dark feel to them, and are by the same author. Shigeshoushi is more realistic and has more romance.

Despite having a bit of a different feel to them, both series use death as a way to explore life and its fascets in an episodic way.

Shoujo/josei manga that are dark, bleak, and immersed in death, making the beauty of the story and presentation stand out that much more.

Both series talks about how people think about life. Funny, heart-wrenching and thought intriguing rolled into one.
