Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna

A battle of the brains, mysteries, violence, action, excellent artwork, if you like any of these elements you're bound to find some interest in either Spiral or Death Note. While they both have completely different stories, both of the main characters are highly intelligent individuals able to plot out plans to get things their way. Although the differences between the two are rather minor, surprising plot twists and events are bound to pull you into either Death Note or Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna and leave you wanting for more.

While they have vastly different plots, they share a few aspects:

1) Both works deal with cursed children and their struggles to deal with their fate.
2) The children are desensitized to violence.
3) The children use all sorts of weapons (knives, guns, explosives) to fight.

Shiki addpermalink

In both manga, there are people that aren't allowed to exist because they may be a threat to the others. It is discussed the moral problem of killing a murderer and there are also twists and smart moves. There are complex characters, well psychological analyzed and some of them show their madness and obsessions. While Shiki is a supranatural and horror manga, Spiral is a mystery manga and it also has a more optimistic atmosphere and less gore. However, both express deep feelings and they manage to shock the readers.

Well, both manga have warped logic and horrible mystery behind all events. In both of them there are an people toying with events and pulling the strings behind the scene of events. Some light-romance themes are well shown. And you will easily recognize some similarities beetwen main characters. 
Also... Both are brutal, with quite a lot of blood and some characters dying. 
There is also the cloning theme that appears in later chapters.

The main characters of both Detective Conan and Spiral: Bonds of Reasoning are very smart.  They do detective "stuff" and solve cases even if they are difficult.  Most of the cases involve with themselves (Conan/Shinichi is involved in solving cases in order to find out about Black Organization, and Ayumu is involving series of "Blade Children" event in order to find out whereabout of his brother).

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro addpermalink

Both deal with mysteries that require alot of thought and effort put into them, with both lead males are very intelligent. They both have rivals that are "gifted" in Neuro it is the new bloodline and in Spiral it is the blade children. However, in Neuro it is much clearer who the bad guys are,but in Spiral its a little harder to comprehend what good or bad is.

Both have the mysterious air that makes you want more. They both contain considerable amount of blood. They both have special key words: "Bloody Monday" for well Bloody Monday, and "Blade Children" for Spiral.
