Have you ever urinated in another man's asshole? Would you like to?

This manga follows a young gay boy who is looking to empty his bladder in all the wrong places. He meets a tall, dark, and handsome stranger who is creepily waiting on a park bench. This mysterious man changes the boy's life as he realizes the pleasures and perils of using another man's anal cavity as a urine receptacle. The story hits its climax (and so does he, presumably) when he goes a step further and empties his bowels on the aforementioned mysterious man's genitals. The photorealistic art pulls you into the manga ... and makes you feel as if your dick is really being shat upon. This deeply symbolic and touching tale provides profound insight into the homosexual psyche and explores the limits of human physical relations. Something like this simply cannot be rated on a traditional scale. I give this masterpiece a 1 out of protest of the stifling MAL rating system. Or because it simply broke the conventional critical rating system, and MAL cannot be entirely responsible for this oversight. For all porpoises in tents, this manga is a clear yaranaika/10.

This nearly made me cry. Kuso Miso Technique is the yaoi manga that spawned the "yaranaika" Internet meme(google it for a laugh). It was probably the most hilarious and DISGUSTING thing I have ever read, seen, smelt, felt, tasted, whatever.

Story:
Essentially we have a gay schoolboy as our protagonist. Gay schoolboy needs to empty his bladder, and is walking to the restroom. As he is walking he spots an attractive man on the bench, wearing a jumpsuit. The man unzips the jumpsuit, shows our protagonist his genitals and asks "yaranaika", meaning, do you want to do it? They walk into the bathroom and have sex.

Reading ... it I was nearly dying of laughter and gagging at the awful dialogue and disgusting sex acts they did. This may come as a SPOILER, but Kuso Miso means "Shit Soup". Our gay protagonist may be swept up in lust for a random stranger, but he still needs to empty his bladder. Where? Jumpsuit guy's ass. So appealing. Oh and also, he needs to take a shit. Guess what happens? It's horrifying but at the same time amusing!

Art:
Abe's (the man with the jumpsuit's) facial expressions are iconic. He probably has the most famous expression of ecstacy. For anybody who googled "yaranaika" you know what I mean. The art is horrible. We have shots of naked men, naked men colliding, etc. but the backgrounds are awful and not detailed at all, and the main characters have no effort put into them.

Character:
It's gay man and older gay man colliding in a bathroom, with shit and piss. Yum.

Enjoyment:
Probably the most amusing manga I've read since Michael Jackson's Bad from Shin National Kid. It's disgusting, horrifying, awful, and I pity whoever reads it, but I can't deny it's hilarious and I will always use this as an inside joke within my circle of friends. (And yes, I did make my friends read this. They loved it.)

Overall:
I don't think this manga was even TRYING to be good, let alone succeeding at it. For spawning awful facial expressions and a hilarious Internet meme I give Kuso Miso Technique a glorious shit-covered 10/10.

Oh hey, it's the manga that spawned a thousand memes in the early 2000s internet meme culture.

Masaki Michishita is just your regular run-of-the-mill typical guy. Just as he is happening to be running to a park washroom, he spots a man wearing a jumpsuit sitting on a nearby bench. As he spots the man, who is named Takakazu Abu, he suddenly unzips his jumpsuit and exposes his penis, asking "Wanna do it?". They then proceed into the washroom and have sex.

"Kuso Miso Technique" (lit translation - "Shit Soup Technique"), AKA "Yaranaika?" (lit translation - "Shall we do it?"), AKA "Kuso Miso Soup" (Just how many ... names can something this short have?), is pretty much an entirely unremarkable one-shot Yaoi manga. There's literally almost nothing to this particular Yaoi outside of this one short scene, which I've literally summed up in it's entirety in the plot description, so there isn't much to talk about the manga itself.

Would I recommend "Kuso Miso Technique"? Only if dudes literally peeing into other dudes butts is your thing. Personally, if I saw something called "Shit Soup Technique", I'd normally would not want to be a thousand feet of it. Now I have it etched into the recesses of my mind for the sake of a review.

But considering that the unremarkable plot setup and niche appeal, how did this end up becoming an infamous meme on the internet during the early 2000s? It's actually a really easy answer. The two guys have some of the most absurd facial expressions. Let's get into a bit of a history lesson. Bet you weren't expecting that in the middle of your Yaoi review, were you.

"Kuso Miso Technique" was first published in 1987 in the second issue of Barakomi, a Japanese gay-interest magazine. It didn't receive my fanfare upon it's release and was promptly forgotten for about 15 years until a few scanned images of the vintage Geikomi began circulating online via image boards in 2002. By popular demand, the full-length version was uploaded on Futaba Channel in 2003, and it soon spread to sites like NND and 2channel, becoming infamous for the facial expressions of the two main characters along with it's absurd plot, becoming a full blown meme in the process, and soon being associated with other memes like the lesser known and used "Breadfriend".

You've probably seen the faces of either one of the two lead characters in some reaction image or used in a meme somewhere and just didn't know it or didn't realize where it was from. And knowing where it actually came from makes the whole meme that much funnier in my opinion. Who would have thought that some random gay comic from the late 1980s would having lasting appeal outside of it's intended consumption.

I'm not entirely sure what score to give this, but I just gave it 9/10 because apparently, this was funny. I am not sure if I am burnt out from memes or just overdosing on "so bad it's good", but I am beginning to lose a laughing response from stories of this type.

But I am going to say it anyway, man this was great. So my 9/10 stays.

For someone who doesn't read too much yaoi, I am not entirely sure if the whole genre looks as silly as this did, or if this is just a one-off that happens, I will believe the latter. ... But yeah, this story is dumb and follows no logic which is exactly the kind of stuff I like, and probably you too if you have tastes like I do.

Unfortunately though, this title and, well, we will call it "attention", are misleading in the fact that this is incomplete, the technique that is, so I am probably going to down my score to an 8/10 for disappointing me in what was lost potential. That's it I guess.

Kuso Miso Technique (lit. Shit Soup Technique) is a one-shot about a gay schoolboy (Masaki Michishita) mono-logging about his need to urinate, while he is running to the park restroom. On his way to the restroom he meets a handsome young man plopped down on a bench. They say nothing to each other as the man begins exposing himself. In Masaki's rush to find an area to relieve himself, he seemed to forget that this restroom is a hot-spot for gay hookups. Realizing this, he takes up the opportunity to have sex with the strange man from the park bench. It only gets better from ... here on out.
Now, the reason I rated this so highly is because of how comical this one-shot is: the faces are hilarious enough to the point they became a meme, the park bench man's odd gaze as he awkwardly unzips his jacket, the shit soup. Don't get me started on the shit soup. If you're confused as to what shit soup is, then I implore you to read the manga. It goes very in-depth.
Overall, I give this a 7/10
It's a very good read.
