Can be used as a reference sheet for newcomers to the manga industry. Mystery manga that contain supernatural/mythological/folklore beings. May only make mention of these things or may actually be set in a world where they're real. "Beings" includes creatures, spirits, youkai, gods e.t.c. People with supernatural powers are not included. Shounen manga are known to fall back on a handful of "traditional" shounen sub-categories: battles (whether they are historical, fantastical, gang fights, military, space wars, or collectible monsters who fight in the protagonist's stead), school comedies, male-centered (or pandering) fantasy adventures with either a powerful male protagonist or an eye-candy female protagonist, and of course the usual harems, yuri, and fanservice. (Can't forget the waifus!) But some series don't follow a standard shounen formula, to the point of feeling like it belongs to another genre entirely. Number of sales and date that number was acquired from in notes for each. Some of them I have personally estimated a higher figure than the date says. aka "don't let your kid read this alone" manga, or "why the F is this Shounen?" manga. Compiling amazing manga which are LGBT+ focused or have some LGBT+ aspects. Most of them are horror, but there are some exceptions, so I had to put the word in brackets. Manga depicting the daily life/religion/historical events/just culture overall of different parts of the world. Doesn't include manga with settings older than the 10th century. So no Ancient Greece or Roman Empire, for example. In the world of the anime and manga industry, it is rarely seen that a female manga artist comes at the top of the chain. Most of the popular anime series are written by male authors. One Piece, Naruto, AOT, Jujutsu Kaisen, all these notable manga’s are from male artists. And, there is no end to this list. But, what about anime by female manga artists? just trust me bro Manga adaptations of classical works as well as stories about people in higher education with a DA aesthethic or people appreciating the arts with an old aesthethic. So I won't include something such as Blue Period because the aestehthic doesn't fit but it does thematically. But this is an aesthethic, and since it's Eurocentric I have to be a bit liberal with my definition. This list is derived from The Anime Man's "The OFFICIAL Top 100 Manga Of All Time (According To The Internet) Is Actually Surprising..." video. The video goes over the results of an online poll that he created in which people could vote for their favorite manga series. |
