"I'm the prince scumbag!! I'm gonna pierce straight through you!!!"
First off, my first review for this site, and its late at night. This will be as spoiler free as possible, put I am gonna explain some things (Most of which are explained in the first chapter, so their not really spoilers) So, Sensei no Bulge (Or Barrage as I believe it is officially called in America), is a story about a boy named Astro, who grew up in the slums of the planet...Industria I believe it is called. Astro is basicaly a typical Shounen Protagonist. Hes stupid (though smart when he needs to be in a fight), ... Dec 6, 2017
From the same creator as MY HERO ACADEMIA, one of the best shounen I have ever seen ( I am talking about my hero academia). The manga I've never read through.
Sensei no Bulge. The Best Shounen Manga I've Ever Read. The story is cliche in the beginning but if you keep on reading ( I'd say past chapter 5 ) It's gonna get really good. The plot is really interesting and original. The art is just outstanding. If you like the MHA art your gonna love this one. And the attention to detail is really good. Not gonna lie, the character is pretty cliche. But this was ... Apr 23, 2017
Sensei no Baruji/Barrage - An Underrated Manga.
There are those stories that simply can't go up in popularity because (maybe) the readers are waiting for the same kind of storytelling that comes from the same magazine and with that, the shonen genre becomes our daily bread. Barrage was one of the works that managed to overcome the barrier of popularity because of today, the person behind this work is best known for creating the mega-hit "My Hero Academia" [or in Japanese "Boku no Hero Academia"] which currently has several animations and a second season currently airing. The problem with Barrage [or in Japanese "Sensei no Baruji"] is ... Oct 16, 2017
Interesting setting and memorable, easy-to-understand characters, but the plot progression ran in conflict with the entire synopsis, and it sort of stumbled over its own feet as a result.
The pitch: Plucky protagonist boy replaces his royal double in a sci-fi fantasy re-imagining of the Prince and the Pauper, with stress on how he's more worthy of the role of prince, but his double was still a real person (who is nothing like him) and his loss is felt by most of the characters, both positively and negatively. The story: Plucky protagonist gets a new awesome weapon and wanders off into the featureless desert to fight mooks ... Sep 24, 2012
Well since it got past 10 chapters, guess Ill give it a 6/10 instead of a 5. It had potential really with interesting character designs and a main character that was cool and lovable. His side character partner, Tiamat was also good with this time frame. I would have liked more backstory on him given. The potential for a long adventure was actually here as well as a potentially deep and immersive world. Its terrible that it had to be cancelled early and lots of details left hidden. Rushed ending chapter though :/
For 16 chapters it is worth checking out for its sci fi theme ... May 28, 2019
This manga is very underrated I read this book when I was younger and I forgotten about it till now. But it was made by the same person who made My hero Academia and I'm a fan of his work so I was looking on what else he did and I remembered this book. I'm kinda sad it only got two valumes but it's definitely worth the read if you like Horikoshi's work.
Horikoshi's art stile is very noticeable and easy to remember and I can see that some of the characters have similar designs from MHA characters so that's cool. The story is ... Jun 7, 2017
This is great. Haven't read to end, but it's great.
It has Hirokoshi Kohei's method of writing in which the chapters are fast paced and super dense, which the first chapter suffers from, since we don't get enough character and world building. There are also some tonal issues within that first chapter, in particular, where the prince dies. The art presents this as a kind of shocking and disturbing scene, as we are shown in gross detail of his arm and head being blown off. The main character reacts to this in a way completely antithetical to how the audience feels (in a 'comedic' ... Oct 16, 2018
This manga is a really standard shounen. Now that's not a bad thing, but shounen take a while before they really start going, and this never really gets a chance. The protagonist is pretty interesting, in that he's really hot blooded and his dedication to family shines through pretty earnestly, especially in the part where he inspires others. However, no other characters really stood out. Tiamet is the only one that gets enough time, but even he didn't feel all that fleshed out. Tiko's story had a solid starting character arc, but the manga ends before it can really go anywhere. So overall in terms of characters, other than Astro no one

It's a fun, 2 volume shonen with nothing out of the ordinary. Both the story and the characters follow classic tropes but that is not a bad thing.
As always, Horikoshi's art is very nice to look at and I personally liked seeing how this art style got to the MHA version. Now, the problem with this manga is that there is not much to say about it but MAL won't let me publish the review without more words so I am just fluffing it out for the heck of it. If you want to have a bit of fun and don't want to read a long series, ... |
