Both series are by the same author, Kouhei Horikoshi. Barrage is the manga before the huge hit, My Hero Academia. Both series contained: - Monster like people with powers. - A young, feeble protagonist that grows strong and brave. - Protagonists who put others before themselves with saving people. - Protagonists destined to save the world after meeting a special someone who made them significant after being lesser than a nobody.

The two of them are both battle shonen titles, and yet both have a darker sort of tone to them, and an excellent setting.

Both these shounen title sshare very similar designs, characters, and settings.

In the current battle manga world where new mangas try to be original (and fail), this two mangas returns to the very core and tradition of classic adventure mangas. Simple but awesome artwork, interesting and cool characters and a brilliant story, the proof that you don't need to be original and revolutionary to make good manga.

Characters in both these serialisations live in a world in which humans and various alien species live among each other. Although Gintama has more of a mature human/alien society, the majority of its stories simply revolve around its human characters. Alternatively, Sensei no Bulge has a human/alien society that is fairly new, so there is still a lot of issues and problems that revolve around having such a society.
