Both MCs have received some sort of mission from their fathers, that is not appreciated by those in power. The MC lived a life away from normal society or at the very bottom of it. Luckily they have some trusted friends to keep standing up against the unfavorable tides.

Both manga's are set in a world populated by dragons and tell a tale of people living in the sky. The worlds are very heavily tied around existence of dragons.

The protagonists Claus (Last Exile) and Knit (Lindbergh) share the same dream of soaring through the skies. They both join the crew of a flying ship, lead by a mysterious captain with a troubled past. Both series also include aerial racing and a corrupted female ruler. If you liked Last Exile, then you will probably love Lindbergh. If you liked Lindbergh, then watch the Last Exile anime before reading the manga.

The most important aspect of Nausicaa and Lindbergh is humanity's treatment of fantasy creatures: giant insects called "ohmu" and wingless dragons called "lindbergh," respectively. They often get abused and treated as tools of war. When humans mess with them the wrong way, they can become quite monstrous and violent. Both manga have flying ships, aerial combat, ancient legends, and an aristocratic female antagonist. The main protagonists, Nausicaa and Knit, travel with a cute animal companion that protects them along their journey.

Pirates, adventure, and friendship are the main themes of Lindbergh and One Piece. Lindbergh follows a crew of "sky pirates," while One Piece has sea pirates. Lindbergh has a main character called "Captain Shark" who resembles some characters in One Piece for literally having shark teeth. Both manga are full of endearing characters, fantastical creatures, and old legends.
