Akiyama-kun is some shit you can really appreciate. great art, plot, and characters. the fact that it's not your typical uke/seme story is satisfying already.

A straightforward Shiba is seriously in love with the nonchalant Akiyama-kun. you will feel all sorts of things from the moment you read it. and don't even try to predict what happens because you'll end up guessing 'til daylight. Not knowing what comes next is one of this story's charm.

Nobara Aiko's done a beautiful job giving this story an edge of sexy and fluffy, something that'll definitely keep you wanting more.

This one has subverted my expectations because of how the two characters were represented, with the timid guy being quite insistent in his pursuit. I did after all find this in the tag “uke-like seme”. The art is absolutely lovely. Without spoilers, the story is simply the growing relationship between the two main characters (both students), one a known bully, the other one basically an easily flustered cry baby, but who is quite sure in his desire to make his newly acquired boyfriend happy and not lonely anymore.

Also, this one is incomplete and still ongoing. Plus it’s pretty graphic.... that was quite awkward. There ... are a bunch of scenes that I just had to skip because of second hand embarrassment and... it was a bit too much.

Honestly, this manga was a struggle for me to read. I did not enjoy it at all, and I found it all painfully awkward. I'll admit that the story was fairly original, and it wasn't very bad, it was the stuff going on when the story was majorly progressing. So much would happen at once and in such a manner that I would squirm in my seat and check my watch uncomfortably. If it wasn't for this, I probably would have found much more enjoyment in the story. This story contains plenty of sex and enough cutesy scenes to keep it from getting out of ... hand, which does add to the romance between Akiyama and Shiba, but not quite enough to make up for the plot in my opinion.

I think that the character design was pretty good, but the personalities were a little less so. Akiyama seemed to have that regular "cool and aloof" personality that is usually seen in the dominant roles in yaois, and while Shiba is softer, he doesn't seem to totally fit into the submissive mold. I thought that the art was pretty cute and I will probably look into some of this Mangaka's other works.

Lots of people seemed to love this manga, but I just didn't really click with it. To be fair, I'm sure that there are some other good things about Akiyama-kun past all the critisizing I did, but I just seem unable to find them.
