SciFi magical world, eye-catching characters, Harem, long serialisation, getting nowhere,... are the very similarities. At least I didn't get triggered with Shinyaku no Index. 

Kyousuke is Touma's ideal plus accel's background with a bit of a twist added to him. Besides the info dump, the story is similar to Toaru. 

Protagonist that continously get into problems as he keeps encountering girls that require saving. This grows a "harem" around him and as the girls tend to weild some sort of varying superpowers, thi coincidentally creates a powerful "faction" of sorts around the protagonist, powerful enough to influence the world conflicts. These novels also mix together fantasy and sci-fi elements frequently. 

Light novels with huge cast of characters, frequent switching between point of views and places as the stories of the characters get intertwined between each other greater schemes come to light.
