~Both manga have blood, gore, and much pain, both mentally and physically. ~They both have organizations that do cruel and inhumane testing on people, and there are 'monsters' which cause the deaths of many people. ~They both also go deeper within the character's mind and show how what's happening affects them. ~The characters and/or main characters are also female.

Both have protagonists that come back from the dead with unnatural, "inhumane" powers. They also both have a plot point where they have to break out of a research facility.

Both main characters have a weird arm. ^^ In both mangas the human kind is being attacked, but in Verdant Lord the attackers are trees and in Variante they're chimeras.

both about a girl her undergo a 'transformation' and become violent due to it.
reportRecommended by PlaguedDarkness
Similar concept with monsters arms being attached to the main character which then makes them more violent. The main characters are also similar both female and the monsters attack/kill their families.

Same artist, different writer. Both have a large amount of angst and some similar themes.

A parasite attaches itself to the mains character arm which then gives them the strength that they then use to fight and kill other parasites.

Aiko reminded me a lot of Saya on how they both thought that they were monsters and were used as weapons to kill them. So in this way both mangas have preety much the same plot.

The protagonist will come in contact with a virus or disease that will ultimately transform them into 'monster', given them special ability to fight their own kinds. And work for an organization that tries to keep this a secret from the public. Two roads appear in front of the protagonist, will he/she choose to use the power he/she gain for good or for evil?

-Aiko(Variante) and Tetsuo(Akira) are alot alike, -they have powers, that are deforming -their emotions have a big part with their power -they are used by organizatioins -their backgrounds are similar -scientist experiment to make a advance humanbeing, but it backfired -and a previous subject is kept alive for more experiments but, the character above sets the other subject free

Female protagonist are fighting against unknown force that threatens the humanity. The differences are; in Shinryaku Koui, the MC is fighting against aliens using her right arm meanwhile in Variante, the MC is fighting against mutants using her left arm.

A parasitic being attached to the MC left arm and their life changes forever! The difference is the Toto MC became the hunted and the Variante MC became a hunter. TL;DR, both of the manga is a gender bender version of each other

In both manga`s the main character go through a lot of psychological events that are potentially damaging, and they struggle with their natural instinct. The main characters both have to learn to overcome those events. Both manga`s are in the horror genre and i feel like they have a similar atmosphere. The ghouls/creatures in both manga`s kill/eat people.

The female MC suddenly got parasitic being that lives in their body. Then, the monstrous being shows up and started to kill people. So, the MC must fight or die

Both main characters had there parent killed right in front of them, and then end up with a am that has the power to destroy their enemies.

Both series have people that coldly and cruelly experiment on human beings for their own purposes.
reportRecommended by Pyapi
These two are action series not afraid to show gore, though Hellsing is the gorier of the two. Seras(Hellsing) and Aiko(Variante) have quite the similarities from going berserk, unable to cope with their new change and some of the scenes of Aiko snapping look very similar to Seras from volume 7.

They both have vampire-like concepts, where the main characters fight against and destroy monsters of their own race.

It's similiar in how the characters aren't human and are a bit warped; one of the main characters also blindly trusts the real main character too.

massacre human experiments experiments escaped evil organizations body mutation/transformation
reportRecommended by anala
both main characters are "dead" and have the power to defeat the enemies in the story.

A VERY good read to those who like Deadman Wonderland. Lots of blood, violence, and very gorey scenes. Starts off similarly with the leads character's parents being brutally murdered by a strange entity.
reportRecommended by Kiriyin
Both involve extremely disgusting monsters and gore
reportRecommended by Catsup
both main character used to be human, but now they are half-demon, half-human. They try to preverve mankind from the real demon, thanks to a mysterious organisation. it's gore, violent and pretty sad...
reportRecommended by Normandwizard
They both lose parents because of monster-making disease, after that they themselves become infected and they both, against they will, become "killers" in special organization(they both are against killing but in true only Aiko is a killer, Kazuma is something lika a healer). The most important difference is that Absorb Ability is mostly comedy and Variante is a drama wich truly can make you cry.
