Synopsis

It has been said that living among humans are tiny but helpful creatures called Picori. They bestowed a magic sword upon a legendary hero who defeated evil spirits that attacked the world. Since then, the Kingdom of Hyrule has held the Picori Festival in gratitude for the creatures' invaluable aid.

On the hundredth festival, a boy named Link joins his cherished childhood friend Princess Zelda in watching the martial arts contest at the castle. But chaos soon unfolds when the victorious contestant, Vaati, uses his powers to unseal a chest bound by the sacred Picori Blade, unleashing the evil spirits of yore and turning Princess Zelda to stone. To save his friend and undo the petrifying curse, Link volunteers to restore the shattered Picori Blade. As he heads out to the Minish Woods in search of the elusive Picori, Link welcomes help from an unusual new ally—a talking cap-shaped creature called Ezlo!

Unsurprisingly, one of the weaker Zelda worlds results in one of the weaker Zelda manga. The Wind Waker's retro cartoonish visual style may sound like an ideal fit for a manga, but ironically it ends up ensuring this manga has nothing substantial to add to its game. Manga adaptations of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask were the story's first opportunities to tell themselves using the more mature and detailed tone of the official art that was excluded by the Nintendo 64's limited capabilities. Those manga enrich the experience, while this aesthetic which relies heavily on actual animation and moving expressions suffers in manga format.

This manga does not do a good job of capturing the reader but I do not think that is the fault of the author its the fault of the source material. The original game The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap in itself wasn't enthralling story wise so it's hard to find yourself engrossed in a adaptation that is purely story without the gameplay to offer something else to enjoy. The story itself is boring and yet it still feels rushed, which is a common problem among these Legend of Zelda manga adaptations.

Personally I am also not a fan of the toon art style that ...

Where's Our Zelda Anime Already?!

The Legend of Zelda game franchise has come so far since its debut, but despite its legendary status, rich history, and well-established characters, we still don't have a Legend of Zelda anime. It's about time that changed.
