Now, this story is truly one of a kind (even though there’s an eerily similar story to this) due to how it makes me feel. Throughout my entire time reading the chapters, I couldn’t help but grimace at how f*cking atrocious every single character and plot development is. I am in sheer shock, and I feel obligated to congratulate the author since I didn’t think this was possible.

Where to start… the characters are certainly something. To get it out of the way, this male lead has got to be in contention for one of the worst and most insufferable deadbeat of a mc to ... exist; I’ve read a sh*t ton of stories, from emotionally inept romcoms to some of the most pathetic isekais, and this mc is very close to taking the cake.

When the mc isn’t reflecting on his past “coolness,” he just whimpers at the sheer look of a female and manages to create some of the most cringey, pathetic, I’m running out of words to describe this, moments possible. Oh, he also fantasizes about the opposite sex a bit too much, which surely goes perfectly well for character depth and conveyance. (I know he has trauma, but holy sh*t, I don’t care. This guy should not be excused, and he makes every traumatized mcs look bad.)

The fmcs are a bit of a trainwreck since they don’t make sense at all. I know it’ll be explained in some superficial and plot-tied way where the mc was some sort of hero and whatnot, but it’s hard to believe the writing and correlation into the story would be logical with how unsayable the mc is.

Plot sucks. Most of the plot points are just cliche and pathetic. Like the mc. God, I hate him.

I have never read such a story where I just want to put a 12 gauge barrel down my … ahem. Author, from the sincerest part of my heart, please retire.

As of chapter 30, this has ended with a very obvious axe. There was a painful lack of direction in the last ~10 chapters or so. I guess the magazine editors ran out of patience.

I retract the Recommended/6.5 score to NOT RECOMMENDED with a 5/10.

Shame. This had potential.

Sure, the MC is a deadly combo of being a total wimp + an unapologetic simp. That's like 80%+ of shounen (and quite often, seinen too), though. What matters is how the author approaches developing this pathetic shell of a character.

Believe it or not, halfway through its current 16 chapters, 'Peep' provides decent context and picks up. This is why I generally give a series at least 7-8 chapters before I rate it.

So, we have a domination/humiliation fetish traumatized MC, a childhood friend kind/pure FMC 1, and a manic-but-maybe-not-too-out-there FMC 2. Not a bad trio to conjure up some drama between. After a few initial chapters that were incoherent and made this look like a quasi-incel circus, things are falling into place. The art is also pretty darn good, the nose contouring is kinda cute.

I've seen people pile on this author for his other series. I haven't read his works - and judging by the synopsis (and length), I sure won't. However, I believe the low score of 'Peep' can partially be attributed to a) people carrying over their dissatisfaction with the author to this series and b) rating only the first few chapters.

Is it a great work? Nah, far from that. Considering its premise and the niche it occupies in the ecchi manga world, though, 'Peep' is a pretty decent 6.5/10 so far. I hope the author ramps up the psychological aspect.

I randomly saw this series was trending so I gave it a read.
Damn, yeah this manga is pursuing the path of perverted degeneracy.
The MC is not reliable at all, he's just a creepy pervert who "self-pleasures" himself without realizing it.
I'm surprised he's even managed to get this far with this way of thinking, it's not healthy.
Then, there are the female characters who are up there as some of the biggest lust drivers.
At a certain point, you realize there are no good characters here, just people with motives who act on their instincts.

I'm only just reading for entertainment as even I didn't think the people behind ... Hajimete Gal would push out another work so far out.
