Ankoku Delta is a manga with a story featuring an otherworldly dimension which overlaps the human realm. In that otherworldly realm is a city named Delta and its lifeline is the life force of humans. Whenever a human gets taken on by their negative emotion, they basically become available for their life force being taken by people living in Delta. It is practically everything in their realm, being their sole source of energy and means of currency. Now cut back to our protagonist Aurora, who is weirdly curious about the nature of humans and how their society works. So she has her occasional excursions into

the human realm to see their nature up close. While all this is happening, there is a different storyline brewing up simultaneously, a secret organisation plans on taking its revenge on the city of Delta.
So about the story, and it starts with a lot of things and connects those things together as the story progresses. The story starting from the initial chapters, which were much more focused on establishing the connection between the human realm and the realm where our protagonist is from, has gradually seen a major shift towards the second plot point, with more action oriented villains-heroes face-offs. And its not like I hate it in any way, I still find myself enjoying the story, but had those moments, which were in the initial chapter, expanded themselves into some more, I would have liked it even more. Because the most intriguing aspect of the story which I found was the involvement and influence of Delta over in the human realm. Also the approach towards the story is very humor heavy when talking about dark themes, which I liked.
Art is very dynamic and prominent in the depiction of expressions and motion with a very clever use of lighting/shading at some instances to highlight the scene furthermore. The background are often very intricate with high level of attention to even the smallest of details.
The manga has also managed to develop a rich cast full of quirky characters. Our main character is shown as an impulsive and a carefree person, acting nonchalant no matter the situation, in stark contrast with his senior partner, who is much more serious and calculating of the situation. There are a lot more characters introduced as the story moves on with their own weird personalities distinguishing them.
A good read to provide you with some interesting turn of events, all with a pinch of humor and dynamic action.
