Ankoku Delta is a manga with a story featuring an otherworldly dimension which overlaps the human realm. In that otherworldly realm is a city named Delta and its lifeline is the life force of humans. Ankoku Delta is a fun yet dark tale, in the vein of Dai Dark and Dorhedoro, wherein the characters are full of quirks and have a passive attitude to the horrible reality around them. Aurora, our heroine, is full of energy and curiosity whilst her mentor Ryuji fills the role of deuteragonist and grizzled grumpy veteran. Their dynamics with each other and other characters were the highlight of the series, equal parts fun adventure and larger narrative-driving.

If this series had taken more time to build up to its final arc, exploring more of the gloomy world of Delta, I think it would have been one ...
