Both are action-packed manga featuring a protagonist that is seeking revenge for their parents. As such, these manga share very similar themes and motifs.

These seinen manga from the 1970s both feature strong, cunning female leads bent on revenge. They have also both been adapted into live action films with Meiko Kaji in both titular roles.

Not only they belongs to the same genres (i.e. Samurai, Historical, Seinen), but they also share a special attention to visuals. Consequently both are graphically extrêmely violent titles, but with beautiful imagery and great aesthetics. However, be aware that Lady Snowblood is more excplicit in sexual depictions than Vagabond.

Both were written by Koike Kazuo, and both stories feature a prominent revenge plot. Lady Snowblood takes place during the Meiji, so it's set in a different period, but it features the same kind of character-based drama and action as Lone Wolf & Cub.

For me, one of the best works of Kazuo Kamimura, tells also the story of an out-of-society woman and in some chapters we can also see in the background the poverty in Japan and the post-war occupation troops. It's also a revenge story that I personally enjoyed a lot with one of the finest arts I've seen in classic manga. If you liked Shouwa Ichidai Onna, you will deifinitely love Shurayuki-hime.

The beautiful illustrations in both manga that complement the great narrative cohesion make these two works amazing additions stand out among the awful, boring manga that plague the manga world.

Both series feature female lead characters whose main objective is to get revenge on the traumatizing pasts they experienced.

Samurai, revenge and assassinations

Both stories are about revenge and both feature samurai and sword fights. Similar feeling transmitted from both stories.

Similar art style and themes.

Both lead characters are assassins struggling with their pasts or tragic situations they were placed in. If you enjoyed the violence and mature illustrations of Lady Snowblood, Crying Freeman is worth checking out.

Revenge stories about a wronged protagonist seeking vengeance against those who have done them wrong. Old Boy has the added twist of having to find out the reasoning behind the crimes committed against him while interacting with the antagonist throughout the series whereas Lady Snowblood is a comparatively straightforward search for the antagonists with the backstory being gradually revealed, but they have the same kind of feel at a number of points throughout the series. Aside from that they both deal with a kind of protagonist-centred grey morality that makes things interesting.
