A chronological selection of the most important works of Osamu Tezuka, a timeless influential figure on the medium and one of the greatest artists of all time.

These entries are listed keeping in mind its historical relevance, their context in Tezuka's life, and their overall influence on the mangascape. I believe the following titles would help you understand more about his style, life, and contribution to Japanese media. It is not comprehensive and should be treated as a jumping point for such a colorful career.

Influential shonen manga before dragon ball.

Tezuka Osamu is considered one of the greatest mangaka ever. He is know as the, "Father of Japanese manga and anime". This is a manga list honoring the best/most iconic works by Tezuka Osamu. These mangas are groundbreaking and helped shape the future of Japanese media forever. His works also influenced the future generation of mangakas including Fujiko (Doraemon), Monkey punch (Lupin), Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira), Akira Toriyama (Dragon ball), and many more. the tokiwa-sou (トキワ荘), or tokiwa manor, was a tokyo apartment complex where an incredibly influential group of mangaka lived from the early 1950's through the early 1960's. of course, the biggest name associated with the tokiwa-sou was the "god of manga" osamu tezuka, who lived in the building from 1953-1954. however, during that period the approximate dozen of influential mangaka living there established the building as a social hub for a broader group of the medium's greatest creators at that time.

this list will include both known (or at least supposed) residents of tokiwa-sou and their mangaka friends who often visited. this list will be based on armchair-level research, so please DO NOT CONSIDER THIS A DEFINITIVE RESOURCE. that said, if anyone has any missing information, i would very much appreciate that you contact me with information on those artists' relationship to the tokiwa-sou!

the list will include one of the most noteworthy or "classic" manga series' created by each artist, and i will prioritize series' that can currently be read in their entirety in english, either legally or via scanlations.
