This manga is rather simple in design and doesn’t leave a strong first impression, however, as time passes and chapters go by, the manga grows more and more in interest, leaving a lasting impression despite its simplicity.

Though I say there’s simplicity in the plot, the concept or trope is rather unique besides for the idol, non idol relationship. From the setting alone, there’s this small bit of interest and refreshing nature that doesn’t occur in the usual high school romcom while also sprinkling in some of the lovable attributes derived from an education-based setting — in this case, a university.

The characters don’t have ... the most unique personality, but because of the setting, they are relatively more mature and distinct than the typical romcom. Along with this, they undergo a fair set of character exposition and development, even in the little amount of chapters there are; in other words, there’s actual development, which is always a positive.

There’s some forced events in the manga that feel somewhat cliche and awkward, but the manga overcomes all of its problems solely because of just the right amount of wholesomeness, cuteness, excitement, and drama. Idol romcom mangas rarely get detailed, personal characters, which makes this all the more enjoyable compared to the rest.

This is a series that quickly bucks the standard trend of main characters, by instead of doing a standard uncool lame main character that is obsessed with super cool idol that is out of their league who has a special something or another that makes them stand out at some point or forces the idol to notice him against the rest of the crowd. We instead are given a loser idol with a semi-normal fan Kimiya Okuta who appears to only have eyes for the main idol Moegi Urushibara.


The main pull of this series is that it takes the idol Moegi and instead of ... being an untouchable all perfect goddess of the idol world they are a clumsy goof. They are a terrible singer, unable to properly do idol poses and terrible at dancing along with just having a terribly rude personality. This is definitely a great flip on the standard perfect character that is typical for an idol series and while it may not appeal to everyone I do respect it for taking a standard concept of idol perfection and giving it a more down to Earth feel because there are alot of people who do attempt to make it big and either crash and burn from the start or flounder around like a fish out of water till they eventually get their groove. At the time of writing this they have not shown that this is going to be a redemption into stardom series but we will wait to see.


A final important difference from what feels like the standard idol drama/romance genre is that they quickly establish that this takes place in the world of grown adults. Instead of stock standard young children who are able to freely follow their dream some of the idols must balance college or work lives with their secondary hobby of idol work. There is also a much deeper dive into fan interaction not only between idol and fan but idol and idol as them being such a small unpopular group, they have a lot more direct interaction with repeat fans and how that effects each member of the group.

Over all I can easily recommend this manga to anyone. The romance/comedy fans will enjoy its humor and the characters growth that has been scaling very well with how few chapters are currently out, while also being lite enough for casual readers. It

I'm writing this with only 10 chapters in, the premise of the story is interactions between an Idol and her only fan(she has no other fans)

Well paced sugar fluff, and the dialogues are a good use of use of words with consistent humor and sometimes extremely funny scenes.

Enjoyment: 7/10
So far so good, no plot holes, nothing to really complain about.

In conclusion you should give this manga a try and see if you like it (most probably you would), the chapters are short but mesmerizing so it shouldn't take much of you time.

Man, this manga is great. Personally, I think that its straying away from the usual idol x fan dynamic is very appealing. Usually in that kind of dynamic, the fan is a self-insert loser and then the idol is perfect and amazing but in a different way than on stage. Something like that. Well it is kind of the opposite in this manga, where the idol sucks, and then the fan is a hot guy who is the only one who supports her. Honestly I really like this dynamic, and it is what carries this manga for me. However, as with a lot of the ... romcom manga I enjoy, it does suffer from the same things, like lack of depth, nothing happens, no progression, whatever. So if you don't like that kind of romcom don't read this. Otherwise, definitely read. 10/10.

This manga shows great promise, but the author seems a bit lost with only 25 chapters in, please bear with me I will try to make myself clear.

This manga revolves around the "idol" theme. Urumin is a failure idol in an underground group called Merry✰Universe, she is the definition of ponkotsu: she can't dance, but she can trip; she can't sing, but she can forget the lyrics. However she loves being an idol, and that what made her so interesting to Kimiya, her only fan in the whole world. Kimiya loves how clumsy Urumin is, the clumsiest, the better. And you would think that might ... be all an act, Urumin wished that as well, but she is a certified ponkotsu.

Most of the chapters are focused on the interaction between the failure idol and the unshakable fan and they can be really cute and funny. We are also introduced to the other 4 members in Merry✰Universe and each one has an unique and distinct personality.

So here is what this manga offers: a cute and funny interaction between the protagonists; interesting side characters that can expand the story in different directions without being more of the same; an underdog story, not only for the failure idol, but for her group as an underground idol group with a dozen of fans which can rise to stardom.

Now here is the bad side, only 25 chapters in and the manga already feels repetitive. I considered it a legit 8 until now - I am a bit shaken, but I will stand ground for now -, but even after a whole month hiatus - for a weekly series - I thought the author would figure out an actual story for the manga. Most underground idol groups don't make it, yes, but wouldn't it be amazing if we actually saw them trying their best in small festivals and rising to the top? Or seeing how the different members in the group interact with each other and how their choices affect one another? I understand the main point of the manga is Urumin and Kimiya and I am not saying we should change that, but the story has shown a potential to be developed, but, maybe influenced by the editor, we keep on getting more of the same and I am afraid it might get stale, because, repetitive, it already is.

So I do recommend the manga and I am cheering that we will get a nice turn of events and the story will go back to its tracks, I hope that in the future when this review is looked at we have an actual interesting overplot besides the Urumin and Kimiya interaction and all I said about the author is wrong.
