This Naruto and Boruto short story was definitely a mixed bag. When I say I have mixed feelings about recommending it, I'm not kidding, though I would say I lean more towards not recommending it than recommending it, but I do think some people would probably like this story. There were a lot of weaknesses. The pacing at times felt so sluggish that I found myself speed reading rather than enjoying the story because it felt so tedious. maybe i'm just out of whack on my naruto knowledge, because god knows i won't read boruto, but this felt incredibly out of character.
sasuke is very unlikeable. the efforts they tried to put in for him doing cute things for sakura felt very forced and like he ultimately does not care about his family. the dialogue was incredibly boring, being almost entirely expotition all the time, and describing exactly what would happen moments before it happened. all of the twists were expected. i did not enjoy this at all from a story standpoint, nor a characterisation standpoint. the final chapter was also completely pointless ... From avenger, rival, anti-hero, & antagonist to loving husband, father, & master. Another story that adds great development to one of shonen's best characters - Uchiha Sasuke. This manga explores Sasuke and Sakura's current relationship as husband and wife. Even better than Gaiden which was shown through their daughter's perspective.
The action is good. Low scale, no big explosions. With more ninja-esque scenes due to them being on an espionage mission. The art is very reminiscent of Kishimoto's style & the story is intriguing. Everything connects to the original series. The lore, techniques, illness, & the story. This feels like a continuation of Naruto even ... |
