i really enjoyed this movie, though I think I liked the previous movie slightly more. Like the previous movie, this felt very much as though it could be a story inserted into the canon with a little wiggling. A lot of favorite characters appeared and the stakes were interesting to me. I also really enjoyed the character interactions though I feel a little cheated on how they handled Kurapika. Other than that, I don't really have any complaints. I had a good time and laughed at all the funny parts and shrieked at a few of the more dramatic parts. It was also interesting to ... watch this movie kind of use some themes from one of the canon arcs in a different way, which I can see might be annoying for some but I didn't mind it because it was a different set of circumstances and in character.

If you enjoy Hunter x Hunter and the previous movie, then you'll likely like this one too. If remixed ideas from canon arcs annoy you in movies, then you will probably get annoyed.

I really enjoyed this movie. It felt like an adventure that could easily slip in between the YNC part of the anime and the NGL part. The plot flowed easily and did not lag. The climax fight could have been a little better but I liked the thought behind it and I liked how the story wrapped. I found myself laughing whenever we got some comedy to break up the drama. It was also nice to see the primary villain of the movie be a true freak. The freakiness of what he was up to really lent to everything. I don't have any complaints, though ... I would not say the movie was perfect.

If you enjoy Hunter x Hunter and other Togashi works, then you're likely going to like this movie. If you have an aversion to puppets then I would strongly recommend skipping this movie.

Once again, we 're treated to a handful of short stories about the Toilet Bound Hanako gang while waiting on season 2 of the main series. The shorts were engaging and worth watching. Some were funny and some were a little weird. I didn't feel a need to skip any of the stories. That said, there wasn't anything super compelling happening or much that stood out above the rest of the stories. I had fun, but it left me wishing they'd just put season 2 of the main series out instead.

If you liked the first season of HSHk then you'll likely enjoy this season ... of it too. If you didn't enjoy the previous season then you might not want to waste your time.

This is a kind of cute little short set just before the Fishman's Island arc in One Piece. It was an interesting exploration into world building and seeing how the Strawhats might function as celebrities in their world. I liked how it also illustrated how difficult it must be to live in a town that is a Marine outpost. I would definitely watch more of these little world building special episodes.

If you like One Piece, then you'll likely like this. Admittedly I wish that it could have dug a little deeper but it was decent for what it was.

I want to start by pouring one out for the anime this could have been. It's a shame that production problems plagued this adaptation, because the concept of making the anime black and white and really paying attention to the tone and point of the source material were all good choices. The first episode had so much promise and then we never reached that level of greatness again. That said, the subsequent episodes, while their production values suffered, did an excellent job of taking the story from the manga and improving upon in here and there to make it flow a little better and function ... well within the constraints of four episodes. Those little tweaks is why this is marked recommended instead of mixed feelings. Yet, I also feel disappointed that we did not get the product we could have had. Maybe someday someone will adapt it into a movie and give it the proper treatment it deserves.

If you enjoy Itou Junji's works in general, you'll likely enjoy this anime. It'd make a great Halloween watch for those who celebrate. If you want something more faithful or haven't enjoyed other Itou adaptations, then this would be one to skip. If you don't like wonky animation, maybe if it gets a home release, the quality will improve.

This is a very intriguing short anime that I really wish was either a full length movie or a full cour anime. The story unfolds slowly and the audience glimpses little world building details that build and build until the final scene, which left me wanting more. The entire short left me wanting more. I wonder if it could have gone a little harder or put in a little more detail but for what it was, it was an interesting taste of what could be a longer project.

I really recommend it unless you don't like ending that feel a bit like cliff hangers .

Uzumaki is told like a spiral. The early chapters are almost like a monster of the week story except, they're telling a small piece of a larger horror. Then, as the story continues, the chapters begin to link more directly with one another until they're completely connected. It makes for good pacing and a great way to slip into the horror of the situation. I really liked the ending as well which fit the vibe of the piece and felt satisfying.

If you like other works by Itou Junji or you enjoy a quick spooky tale then you'll likely enjoy this manga. If you get ... easily freaked out by body horror then you should really read something else because this is kind of body horror the manga in several chapters.

It's been so long since I read this part of the manga that I forgot that the first few arcs are truly some of the weakest in the entire series. Honestly this anime, like the manga, cruised at a wobbly 5/10 but then gained momentum after several episodes to become a 7/10, so I rated it 6/10 because while the first part is a bit weird and wonky to get through, it makes up for itself in the later episodes of this season once the story reaches the main antagonist of the season.

That said, the reason I marked it recommend rather than mixed feelings ... is because I think it's worth the watch even though its start is so weak. The characters grow on you, the action is fun at times, and the story really does come into its own once it solidifies around that main antagonist. Once you get pas the wonkiness, there's a lot of genuine heartfelt moments and some fun action sequences and big ticket moments as well. I really enjoyed revisiting some of the moments even the nicer moments in the start of the story.

If you enjoy Jump titles with eccentric characters and don't mind slogging through some wonkiness, then you'll want to check this out. If you don't have the patience for slogging through, you might want to find something else to watch.

This was my favorite anime of the season. The characters and the premise drew me in and every week things unfolded in fascinating ways. The ending was good and kind of closed up any lose ends relevant to the arc but left me wanting more nonetheless. One of the best aspects of the story was watching Akira not only try to get around the stipulations placed on him by his boss but also watching him acclimate to having a life split between the mundane and the criminal. It was really compelling. I'm really looking forward to a season two. I will be there with bells ... on when/if it happens.

If you enjoy yakuza stories that have a little breathing room to them and don't mind touchy, tough subjects then you'll likely enjoy this anime. If you want something more grounded in the yakuza and how it works or something that doesn't touch on things like forced prostitution and murder, then you'll want to look elsewhere.

I started reading JJK three years ago after it had been running for three years. I started reading it because of the hype and some promises that fandom claimed it made. At first, the story lived up to the hype. It was engaging, engrossing, I loved the characters, and found myself sucked into the story. Then it slowly and steadily lost that momentum but not completely.

There comes a point in the narrative in which things begin to feel jumbled and at times bogged down. Characters engage in too much unnecessary commentary (I'm a fan of Dragon Ball so talking during fights doesn't bother me ... but it should have purpose and it just doesn't feel purposeful in JJK in the later arcs), the action delivers in a hit or miss fashion because of this, and at times it feels like the story has to stop to explain something that maybe could have been shown or explained in a more active, engaging way.

One of the biggest selling points of the story that got me to read it, was how the narrative treated its female characters. True to the hype, the girls and women have different personalities, they don't have their boobs out all the time, and they do function within the story at least to a point. Much like the narrative in general, there's a place in the story in which this stops being as true and there's an egregious example of this that really made me mad but I want to keep this spoiler free so I won't go into details but I'm still sore about it even a few weeks after the fact.

That said, all of this qualms I have with this manga aren't unique to this manga and do happen in other Jump titles. I think that part of it is simply it's difficult to be consistent with a weekly title running for years on end and there's going to come a point where things can get off the rails with the editor isn't a good match ot the mangaka or the mangaka doesn't have the ability to pull everything together in a satisfying way at the end. This is very much one of those manga where I don't regret reading it but I do feel relieved that it's over and I'm not sure I'll keep watching the anime since I've already seen what I thought were the best parts of the story animated. It's a shame it went this way and couldn't keep up the promises in the first part of the story.

If you like Shounen Jump action centered manga and liked Bleach, you will likely like Jutusu Kaisen. If you're looking for something that doesn't fizzle by the end (even though it wasn't necessarily a terrible fizzle) then you might want to try a different title. That said, the first arc is really good and worth reading even if there comes a point you don't want to finish the manga.
