I've been meaning to watch this anime for a couple of decades almost at this point and the Netflix animated series inspired me to finally get around to watching it. I was not disappointed. I think most of the anime held up well over the years. I also liked the nostalgia for a 00's Madhouse production. That said, while I appreciated the focus on the characters and the episodic nature of the first about three quarters of the series, I do kind of wish they'd gotten to explore what happened in the final quarter of the story I wanted to see more of it and ... explore the emotions invested in it. That's kind of a weakness of a lot of anime from that time period though. It's why I knew things would take off once I got to episode 9.

If you like Madhouse anime and anime from the mid 2000's then you'll likely enjoy this anime. If you want an anime that has a sweeping plot that drives every single episode forward, then you might find th is anime a bit meandering in the first three quarters of the story. Even so, it is an interesting story and I liked what they did with the ending even if I wished it could have dug a little deeper.

I really enjoyed this installment of the story. At first I was worried that it wouldn't be able to advance past the types of plot points in the first season but then it really delivered. It was great to meet more characters, flesh out the world more, and watch the story and the characters evolve further. This season left me wanting another season and I hope we eventually get there.

If you enjoyed the first season, you'll likely enjoy this season too. If you didn't enjoy the first season then there might not be enough change in season two, even though the characters and plot ... points do grow.

I'm just really looking forward to where the story can go from here. I hope we get to see it.

I found out about this show when someone mentioned an anime Dr. House, and the show definitely lived up to that description and surpassed my expectations based on it. I liked that it was less cynical than it could have been and that the mysteries were interesting. That said, I think that there was a genericness to it that prevented it from being an 8/10 for me even though I did enjoy it especially for the characters.

If you enjoy detective shows and don't mind medical shows, then you'll enjoy this anime. If you do not enjoy depictions of immolation, watching people die, and medical ... procedures, then this is an anime to skip.

This was one of my favorites of its cour. It was great to finally get a season 2 to one of my favorite anime. The characters were just as fun and compelling as I remembered. I enjoyed the shorter stories and also the multi-episode stories. The reveal in this season is also extremely intriguing to me and I can't wait to see how that bears on subsequent seasons. That said, there were some moments that weren't for me, but that's typical for the franchise as a whole, which is why it's 9 and not a 10 from me. I'm super looking forward to part 2 ... of season 2 in the next few months.

If you enjoyed season one then I'm sure you'll enjoy this too. If you were iffy on season one, then I would still encourage you to try this part since it does take things in a slightly different direction and fleshes out the situation more.

I'm really glad that Toei made the choice to remaster and release an abridged version of the Fishman Island arc. It was great to revisit the things that I forgot over the years and also see my favorite moments again. One thing I really appreciated about this version that by speed it up a bit, it made the pacing nicer and it got rid of the places that moved too slowly in the original version of the anime. However, there were times where things sped by a little too fast and I think maybe they need an extra episode or two to make the parts ... that went a little two fast feel like they were paced better.

That said, it still of course contained the pros and cons of the original version, but that was expected. I hope in the future we might see other longer arcs revisited in this format rather than trying to do something "An episode of Skypiea" that ended up making everything move so fast that it felt a little pointless and lost in the chaos.

If you liked the Fishman's Island arc, this is worth checking out especially if it's been some years since you last watched it. If you aren't a fan of One Piece when it starts cutting stuff for time, then you might want to skip this special revisit.

I really enjoyed this anime. It was one of the ones I looked forward to the most each week during its core. It had a good sense of humor about it and also had a lot to say about grief, which gave it a nice extra layer. The characters were likable and easy to root for. The main character's predicament was also relatable. It was really fun to see the world building happening in the story and all the interesting situations that could put the characters in. I really hope we get another season because I would love to find out what happens next.

If ... you enjoy table top games and/or RPGs, anime that are set in a fantasy setting, and a decent mix of comedy, drama, and humor, then you'll likely enjoy this anime. If you want something that's more action based or don't like a kind of slice of life vibe at times to the romance, then you might want to look elsewhere.

There's a lot about modern isekai that makes me bored and disappoints me, but none of that happened in this anime. The characters were likeable and easy to root for. Ojisan is such an otaku and well-meaning guy that he endeared himself to me immediately in the first episode. I also really like the kind of commentary on maturity happening in the background of the show. I also loved all the references to old school anime from Ojisan's formative years. This anime was the anime I looked forward to the most during its cour. I loved every episode. I really liked the twists presented in ... the story and I would love to see a sequel.

If you like isekai, you might like this one too. If you're tired of the villainess turns a new leaf stuff, then you might be disappointed.

I really like this arc of the story and it was nice to revisit it now that the manga ended. I think the anime did a good job with the material. All of the best scenes and favorite scenes were there. I wasn't left disappointed or in wanting of anything. I was surprised at the ending point, but I think it's been long enough I just am not remember how much has to happen for us to get to the point I thought this season would end at. There were of course some flaws, but they were flaws that were already there from the manga ... (some character designs are questionable, the whole colonialist mindset, etc...etc...) but I knew about them going in and so I just paid more attention to the aspects and parts I liked more.

If you've been enjoying Dr. Stone so far, then you'll likely enjoy this part. If you think Dr. Stone is growing stale, please give this part a chance because it helps shake things up. This is definitely a recommended season from me. I would say if this isn't for you, you've probably already weeded yourself out of the audience at this point.

Let's just pour one out for what this anime could have been if the previous part was better and production made wiser choices. As things play out, much like in season one, it's obvious that the source material is written much better than the anime. The anime tries to speedrun so much that it feels disjointed in places with good moments that could have been greater with a better production. The strength of this part of the story is the same as the first part: the characters. I am completely 100% invested in Tinasha and Oscar. I love them even though they're probably only facsimiles ... of what they could truly be. This is why I marked this as mixed feelings instead of not recommended because I'm glad I saw their story to the end even if it was told really clunkily.

If you enjoyed season one or are curious how things will turn out, please do watch this anime. Just keep in mind none of the flaws got fixed and there will be moments where the transitions leave the viewer confused. If you disliked season one and hoped this would be better, then I would recommend skipping it because you'll likely get frustrated with its flaws.

My only hope is someday someone reboots this and does it properly or gives us the J-drama version.

It was great to revisit the characters and the first story lines from the manga. I have dropped the manga but it was because I just lost interest in the arc at the time. These arcs reminded me why I read the manga for as long as I did in the first place. I think that the anime is a slightly better medium for the story as well.

That said, this is by no means a boring story. The characters are interesting, weird, and easy to root for. The humor is genuinely funny and the action is engaging. I'm looking forward to season 2 and ... beyond. I think that I just needed to experience this story animated to stick with it.

If you liked former Jump titles like Gintama or ones with adults casts, then you'll likely enjoy this anime. If you want something a bit more typical jump power building then you might want to look elsewhere.
