Tired of weak male leads and the typical harem manga? Pick these two up. The male leads are superlative in every aspect of the human being and are accompanied by gorgeous female companions who serve as a sidekick against their enemies.  

Both of these manga focus on highly skilled assassins that feel remorse for their work, though this remorse is for different reasons.  

Both lead characters are assassins struggling with their pasts or tragic situations they were placed in. If you enjoyed the violence and mature illustrations of Lady Snowblood, Crying Freeman is worth checking out. 

Sex, betrayal, mafia, politics, war. Ikegami's art is again featured and beautifully illustrated in a good testosterone driven plot.  

Both are Ikegami's art, and both are mafia-related. Ah, and they both have lots of tatoos. 

The protagonists in these two publications are highly skilled killers that often cry as a consequence of their actions. Mature themes are plentiful.
