Yes, I enjoy rather dark and gritty shows, but it's not like I only watch that kind of anime. I generally like to watch everything that is either good, or catches my attention enough to give it a try. Or both, haha.
I started my adventure with Mezzo from that OVA you mentioned, actually. I read praises about its unique atmosphere and good animation. I watched the censored version, though. I didn't know there was slightly extended, spicier version of this show at first. I learned about it shortly after finishing watching the uncensored one. Of course, I saw that one as well not long after learning about its existence, lol. To be honest, hentai style didn't work well with Mezzo Forte. Those scenes felt not only unnecessary, but odd and out of place.
That's why I think the best way to watch Mezzo is by watching the censored version of Mezzo Forte OVA, and then move right on to the TV series (Mezzo DSA). ;-)

Your list of Favorites looks really nice. And it's the first time I see anyone having a character from Mezzo Forte anime in their favorites! Nice. I enjoyed watching that show.
Ningen Kyouki Katsuo! is a work that fits the parameters although it isn't as good as other works on your list. Despite several fights, the manga is more focused on humor and parodying some elements of the genre.
