These are manga created by Go Nagai carrying a similar dark tone where our heroes lose their humanity to protect the world and its people. In my opinion, out of all the Mazinger Z series Shin Mazinger Zero is Devilman's equal. 

Shin Mazinger Zero was a Mazinger manga not made by Go Nagai , but the story and art is really good , plus the so called Shin Mazinger Z anime is noting like the manga , give it a read if you like the Getter Robo manga  

both are Seinen Super Robot manga with amazing art and characters  

Both of these are modernized, multiversey reboots of classic mecha franchises from the 70's, as the protagonists struggle against the odds, against a humungous enemy and break through with their will and fighting spirit. 

Both of these are new reimaginations of iconic mecha series. They share the "do the impossible" vibe. 

The struggle of humanity against an invasion, as the manly protagonist keeps on fighting in their humungous mecha. 

Epic fights on gigantic scale as manly and hot-blooded mecha pilots duke it out with enemies of mankind. Simply exciting. 

Both of these manga are modernized, edgier reimaginations of classic mecha franchises. with art done by someone else than the original author.
