You don't even have to be a fan of manly series to enjoy this heart warming story.
Oyaji covers the life of "Oyaji" whose returned to his family after several years only to find his children grown into terrible adults. To make up for lost time he reeducates his son & daughter for the family to be together again. This is the gist of the story but is delivered in a very dramatic & in a sad manner.
Throughout the few chapters we see how Oyaji grew to become the man he is today & teaches his children the importance of love & family & will do

In the current media world I always asked myself what is better simplicity or originality? Specifically what I mean with the terms "simplicity" and "originality" is the problems that arises from the way anime and manga or any other entertainment medium has when it comes to this two subjects. For example most new artists tend to come up with original ideas on various subjects like story, characterization, world setting etc but what they lack is the experience to execute such works and they result to cancellation because they cant put up the hype that for example the first chapter created, however there of course are

This manga was recommended to me. At first, I was a bit hesitant in reading this, but when I started to read the first chapter, I was dragged into reading more.
Oyaji is a story about an oyaji (old man/father), a badass oyaji that is. While the cover screams of something gruesome or uninteresting, don't be fooled. The story is told in almost a linear format. The whole series tells a story of a single night where the oyaji came back home after 10 years of disappearance. There were some flashbacks here and there that speaks of how our characters were from before. What makes Oyaji stand out ... Aug 1, 2018
One word:Epic. Not too much character development aside from Oyaji, but what did you expect, its only 25 chapters. Its a great short story, realistic, telling us about the real world, the filth, the worker class people and their everyday struggle to survive. A man who deply loves his family and who would do anything for them, a kindhearted man, that looks like a bear. And with a backround not so healthy, wet, he managed to become a real family man and protector. 10\10 overall, if someone wants to read a heartwarming story, not romantic shit, but realistic hard life, its it worth spending

"You will not understand until you are a parent yourself." -Every parent on Earth
That phrase has been around since the dawn of parenting. If you are not a parent or guardian, then it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE for you to fully appreciate the man known as Oyaji (No, having a pet doesn't count. Seriously.) At first glance, you would think, "Oh, this is just another family drama. Nothing new." or "Oh, this is about a badass, manly man." You are very, VERY wrong. This is NOT about how badass you can be. It is NOT a soap opera. This is an artistic portrayal of EVERY loving ... May 17, 2018
I expected a story of a strong man set in the '90s, where he'd fight against or along the yakuza.
Instead, we are presented a tale of a father that realizes his infinite love for his family, that tries to recover 16 years of absence in one day. This is not a sequence of pages representing brutal violence. It's a redemption of a man, the realization of a father. He lost everything, he was abused by his old man, he faced prison. So he grew up as a scar-faced bear sized giant. But after all, we discover his human side, his will to protect the weak and the ... |
