Both mangas have people of other time periods entering a medieval fantasy world and warfare. Drifters has historical figures fighting amongst each other while recruiting the local population, Gate has the JSDF fighting dragons and local armies and experiencing culture differences. Drifters is darker and bloodier, while Gate is a bit more comedic.

While Ubel Blatt is a the pursuit of revenge and Drifters the pursuit of domination of honour, both acquire the sense of individually powerful characters that need to group together. In both, the protagonist is at the peak of his power and would not progress very much further independently. Also, the settings and the mythological setting of both stories appeals and contrasts the very modern ideals held by the characters themselves.

Although set in different era of war, the current male lead in both of these manga have similar personalities like being overly cautious and can make better judgment when the situation calls for it but somehow unlucky to be burdened with inexperienced subordinates along the way. Now the only choice left is to train these livestock and survive with them on the battlefield.

I would say that there are a lot of similarities in the art style as well as the content. If you enjoyed the idea of historical figures fighting returning to an afterlife to fight a in a battle, Drifters is definitely something you need to check out. Drifters has a similar concept to Record of Ragnarok where after historical figures die, they get transported to another dimension where an on-going war takes place. Regardless if they died at the same, a WWII pilot could be fighting along side a samurai general from two completely different eras. Record of Ragnarok has a similar concept but instead of an  read more

Drifters and Sengoku Youko revolves around fantasy themes and an adventurous setting. Throughout both series, there's traveling involved that takes the main character into various fictional worlds. There's a decent amount of action, story-building, and characterization regarding the main cast. The writing also consists of well-timed comedy and insightful dialogues. Recommended for fans of fictional fantasy-adventure.

Both manga are very violent with a similar tone. Both main characters exhibit this very brutal, almost insane personality when fighting where they almost yearn for bloodshed however outside of battle both have a very calm and detached personality. Also in both they are friends or team up with a more level headed and calculating friend, in Drifters its Nobunaga and in Gangsta. It's his buisness partner Worick. However the setting is where they differ, Drifters is a fantasy world where tons of the big names throughout history are tossed in to (like Nobunaga or Jeanne d'Arc) where Gangsta. Is set in a lawless town  read more

Both stories are nothing alike, however the main characters attitudes resemble each other i kept thinking of drifters main character while reading teppu and vice versa, their ruthlessness in fights and thrill they get while hurting/killing their opponents

Both Afterschool Charisma and Drifters feature characters based on historical figures as main characters and, in same cases, derive inspiration from the very same historical figures, including the French heroine Jeanne d'Arc and the "mad monk" Grigori Efimovich Rasputin. All-in-all, fans who enjoy seeing historical figures in anime and manga will probably enjoy both series.

The main characters from both series are strong swordsman who seem to be righteous, but also love to battle. The battles that take place are not just about fighting, there are strategies being used to always win or out maneuver their opponents. Both series also has magic or onmyouji techniques.

Drifters and Shut Hell are adventurous series with very clever set of ideas. The main male protagonist gets involved in worlds that truly tests the limits of their persona and abilities. Throughout the story, they develop relationships with a variety of characters while facing off against unnatural obstacles. There are historical content present in both series as well that includes some settings. In addition, there is themes of reincarnation although depicted differently according to their premise.
