Imagine your childhood friend asks you for a time alone on a secluded place. Then they'll say, "I love- your mom." This is how I initially imagined it. And that got me baited into reading it.

STORY:
It's an age-gap rom-com between a boy and his childhood friend's foster mother. It's funny and full of ara ara vibes.

ART:
Two words... ara ara.

CHARACTER:
Nothing special aside from the attraction to another person who differ a lot in age. Ayako is trying to be a serious mother. Takumi is trying to look like a serious adult. They're failing at it in a funny way. You can figure out the rest.

I went into this manga from the unusual synopsis, and i love milfs. I also just finished the weird ending of usagi drop, and since this is a pseudo-inversion of that, with the younger boy falling for the mother figure, i wanted to see how they tackled this particular taboo.

I will say right off the bat, this series handles the romance elements much better than in usagi drop, namely how the older lead actually addresses the elephant in the room. Which is to say, “isnt it bad to date someone ten years older than you? How will this effect my family? How will my peers ...

Age gap romances seem to be quite a rarity these days, and it's even harder to find a good one. That is, until I read Musume Janakutte Watashi ga Suki nano. The name might sound silly, but the story and characters behind are fantastic.

It started from a throwaway manga that I read when bored, to one of my favorites of all times.

The manga is a rather slowburn romance so it does take some time for things to actually move, but we do get a lot of development, and seeing how the characters evolve throughout the story.

We're also presented with various challenges and dilemmas, especially when ...

This manga is a bundle of disappointment: A manga that relies on its trope too much, not much progression, and random plot points/transitions that in theory should have helped the manga in enjoyment and engagement, but it did the opposite effect.

It must be noted that whenever a manga has a somewhat promising premise, there must be an even greater responsibility for it to expand on the set premise and add new and interesting plot points, which this fails to do. Instead, each chapter resembles the previous chapter with the same-old arcs and progression: The progression is as if you took two steps forward but ...
