Age gap romances seem to be quite a rarity these days, and it's even harder to find a good one. That is, until I read Musume Janakutte Watashi ga Suki nano. The name might sound silly, but the story and characters behind are fantastic.
It started from a throwaway manga that I read when bored, to one of my favorites of all times.
The manga is a rather slowburn romance so it does take some time for things to actually move, but we do get a lot of development, and seeing how the characters evolve throughout the story.
We're also presented with various challenges and dilemmas, especially when
...
it comes to such an age gap. Insecurities of Ayako (FMC) regarding her age, but on the other side faced with unbreakable bond of experiences and love with the male lead.
I also really like the side characters, all being very supportive and great wingmen and wingwomen for the main duo to push them together.
Although I do feel like I wish the main characters had a little more agency in them without falling back into insecurities every time, but it is understandable.
The art is also very clean and I like it, plus just recently we've gotten actual nudity for those who are into it, so that's a plus!
All in all, I'm eager to see the story unfold further, because it's just been a delight to read, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

A rushed, disappointing, nonsensical manga with unfortunately interesting characters and underlying story potential.
I don't know if this is because of a bad adaptation (LN->Manga) or the source is like that as well, but everything in this manga is very rushed and rarely explained.
Events occur and are quickly resolved, chapters end with no follow up in the next, and it's a mess.
The side girls are definitely cute but they fall very quickly for MC for no apparent reason.
The MC himself is rather shallow. He's a good dude but also is a horndog (which I don't exactly mind) but his relationships with the side cast isn't well
...
explained. There's also no deep backstory to him or most other characters, and there's no deep plot/story to the world we're in.
Not exactly worth it, but might be better in the sequel. 5/10

The plot doesn't make sense, but that's also what makes it so good.
In short, I feel like they did a pretty good job in making a fun show to watch without really fussing on having to think deeply about its content.
The only experience I had previously with Suicide Squad was the 2021 movie, which got me to know a couple of characters here (some are from other DC works) but even then they all felt varied and fresh.
The fights were generally good and well animated (barring episode 1 which was pretty bad, and barring the random CGI monsters).
OST was also on point, and the ED
...
song was really good (the original reason I came to watch this show).
If you want to turn off your brain and have fun, I feel like this show does just that.

What happens when you take Domestic Girlfriend but take out all of its plot, character interactions and spice and proceed to give it to AI to stretch and fluff it to an actual show? You get Gimai Seikatsu.
A relatively promising anime with an interesting premise and interesting character chemistry but quickly it all fades away as you realize that practically nothing happens. Episodes are full of meaningless dialogue and are fluffed up by random things that are stretched over courses of entire episodes and do nothing to move the non existent plot forward.
I wish I had more to write about it, but I just can't.
Dropped,

An unfortunately generic anime that has its music wasted on it.
Every season we get dime a dozen of anime like this. Either an Isekai or a Fantasy (or both) with the concept of "but X". This time, it's a generic copy and paste BUT the demon general is actually a human.
Unfortunately, it changes nothing. The MC is generically OP, but is also the super nice guy and savior with no extra features or qualities.
On the side, we have our own share of cute or hot girls who are all around the MC but are equally uninteresting.
The CGI in this anime (for monsters, effects, spells, etc.)
...
is pretty horrendous.
It's sad seeing Kohta Yamamoto's music (AoT S4) being wasted on this work.
Skip, 3/10.

A manga worth reading for the Ecchi alone.
I've found this manga very randomly a while ago and went through it rather quickly. It's definitely good.
The characters are cute and varied in personalities and designs, and the situations they're being put it are definitely worth a chuckle.
While the story isn't very strong, I don't feel like that was the main point of the manga anyways, although there are small developments here and there. Unfortunately, while the manga does seem to tease us over the course of the manga with development, I feel like the author didn't want to commit to anything and therefore I found
...
the conclusion disappointing.
With that said, the main selling point of the manga is its Ecchi. Each chapter contains some amount of nudity (in the form of uncensored nipples) throughout various situations. Some chapters have it somehow shoehorned in, but some other chapters seem to flow better with these. The art is great, and the creativity of these moments can be really endearing. But obviously, I just thought they were erotic and hot at times, which is exactly what this manga wanted to do.
In general, it's a popcorn-worthy manga. It's not very deep, but the variety of the characters alongside the stellar Ecchi will leave you satisfied.

Now that MAL finally marks this manga as completed, I can finally review it. I've been following this series since the very beginning, reading it raw almost weekly as chapters came out.
It's definitely a good Ecchi series in my opinion.
To be clear, it has a very clear purpose in what it wants to do, so if you like this sort of thing, I think it can be a very fun experience.
While there is a general story, most chapters are kinda standalone, and have their own shenanigans happening in each chapter.
They can all be summed up as Nezu (MC) getting caught up in some weird-ass
...
situation/accident and then one of the girls proceeds to pleasure him in some way (boobjob/thighjob/handjob/blowjob - usually accidental).
I think the art is very good, which is why it can be legitimately hot at times, and I found it fun seeing the creativity of the mangaka in how they make some situations happen.
With that said, the romance and story around it is kinda... lacking, to the point of being nonsensical most of the time. The entire plot is built upon a stupid misunderstanding that happened in the past, which is shown in the first chapter, and then the rest of the series follows Nekozaki (FMC) teasing MC once in a while, with a lot of "filler" chapters in between of other girls having their Ecchi moments.
The ending , despite being a bit rushed, is mostly good and gives the readers what they want.
All in all, if you're interested in an entertaining "turn off your brain" Ecchi with good art and questionable plot, you should enjoy it. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

An unfortunately disappointing anime with a somewhat unique premise that could've played differently.
In short, Rishe, the main character, is already "too perfect". She is incredibly smart, and therefore can outsmart literally anyone in the show, even those that are supposed to pose a challenge to her. On the one hand, she acts independently and goes out there and does her own things, but on the other hand, the moment Arnold (the male MC) is involved, she melts into a blushing mess.
I haven't found the romance to be particularly good. I don't really think there's much chemistry between the two leads. Rishe claims he wants
...
to learn more about Arnold but he feels like a hollow shell of a character being a typical love interest in this genre.
Arnold's "cruelty" is never truly shown, and he doesn't really do much besides making Rishe blush.
In addition to that, the story isn't very interesting either. Drama comes and goes very quickly, and each conflict is obviously solved with Rishe's "big brain tactics". No one else matters, only her showing off her intelect. The problem is that it isn't very endearing or creative.
The plot of the show also focuses on Rishe's "past lives" as this is her 7th life, but none of the past lives has been too... interesting? She learnt a few things here and there which made her great at everything, but nothing really flashy. For example, of her past lives was her being a... maid. So she learnt how to pick locks.
The anime also doesn't let any big conflict or drama linger, which leaves every single conflict to start->Rishe uses her knowledge to solve it->bad character becomes good->More Rishe blushing by Arnold->Another conflict starts...
Just a side note, I also haven't found anything of note about the artistic side of the show: music, art, animation... Nothing really stood out.
In conclusion, I don't think it's a very interesting anime. It had a somewhat unique promise (for an already over-saturated otome genre) but did nothing to make it exceptional, which just made it a slog.
Pass. 4/10

Undead Girl Murder Farce was probably the talk of the season in many circles. From Reddit to various YouTubers, this anime showed a lot of promise to a lot of people, but unfortunately, it never delivered on its promise.
At the end of the day, I feel like it was still kind of entertaining. The fights were somewhat cool, the character cast was interesting, and the mystery parts in the show were also pretty interesting.
But unfortunately all of it fell apart when there was no proper "glue" to stick them together into a coherent, interesting storyline and there are a few key problems in the
...
anime.
Firstly, the main plot and the premise of the show almost never actually progresses. The place we started in episode 2 is almost the same as we were at the end of episode 13. The anime consists of 3 arcs, but at the end of the day none of them contributed much, if at all, to the grand plot. Which leads me to my second point.
Another main problem is that the anime arcs were too different from each other and did not really know what they wanted to do. The anime tried to mix a detective mystery with an action show, which led to a tonal whiplash and in the end it just was not very good. The first arc for example was almost exclusively a mystery-detective style with no action, but then the second one did not have much of a mystery and was full of fights, and the third arc mixes both.
The character cast was colorful and we had a lot of interesting different characters which was nice, but at the same time most of them were not really that memorable as they did not have enough screen time or story rather than just being tagged from the "villain group" or any other group. Many were also chained to their respective arc and did not play a bigger role in the anime as a whole.
Finally, I do want to commend some parts of the OST and the cool OP song, and commend a few cool fighting scenes we had.
In short, it was an entertaining watch for its mystery aspect and some fights separately, but when combined together it all fell apart and led to a very mediocre product.

Genjitsu no Yohane is a visually appealing spin-off, that boasts some of the best songs in the franchise, but at the same time fails to tell an interesting story and does a huge disservice to the original cast.
Being a Love Live fan, the announcement of this spin-off came as a pleasant surprise. An alternative setting with our favorite LL girls, which could be filled with fantasy and adventure. Each girl had her own shtick, with Kanan being an engineer or Mari being a demon queen, and these things had a lot of potential to tell an interesting story.
But unfortunately, none of these came to be.
...
The story revolves around a certain mystery that happens in Numazu which makes animals go berserk once in a while, and is therefore limited pretty much only to that place. The idea in itself isn't so bad, but it was never executed properly. Half of the episodes in the anime are purely SoL episodes with no relevance to the story, which later on, when the story actually progresses, it fails to actually be interesting.
The characters themselves also lose most of their personality and are reduced to a one-off shtick (as mentioned above), while all previous relationships established in Sunshine! are entirely gone. Kanan/Mari for example, or Chika/You/Riko feel like practically strangers in this show. Everyone focuses just on one single character - Yohane. Every sentence they utter is about her and regarding her. Yohane makes the world there go round.
Unfortunately, Yohane's character was another disappointment, as she never convinced me why she deserves to be a main character. For most of the anime's time, Yohane is spent moping, crying, being depressed or making drama. She can't do that, she doesn't deserve to do that, etc. are regular motifs in here. Every time, without fail, she'll be pushed up and supported by Lailaps, or the other girls from Aqours.
Not long after, Yohane becomes a celebrity in town and everyone focuses on her and supporting her, despite the fact that she has never shown us she's done anything exceptional. From an outsider's perspective, she's basically just a random teenager who does random errands for people and likes to sing. She cannot fight, and she cannot support anyone else. Because of that, it's bizarre seeing how everyone revolves around her.
Meanwhile, Yohane's development is a very mixed bag. At the end of the day, she did develop quite a lot, but the process was extremely tiring with one step forward one step back for a long time. Yohane tries to do something, fails or succeeds, then for whatever reason she goes back to moping in her bed. Lailaps comes to cheer her up, they argue a little, and then another chance comes to repeat this process.
Luckily for the anime, I think that the songs are definitely the stronger ones in the franchise (coming second after the series of bangers NijiGaku has released), and with the songs themselves and CGI lives being so great, it elevates the show by a lot. The quick succession of songs in the first half of the anime lulls the viewers into a false sense of security, forgetting completely that there's a story to be told (that is being skipped).
The anime also looks great. The new character designs feel really "soft" and nice, and the anime is very colorful and vibrant.
Ultimately, Genjitsu no Yohane is an eye candy and a treat with its songs for Love Live fans, but as a standalone anime, it's a huge disappointment, failing to have a proper story, and butchering the personalities of the characters we love.
