I gave this a 10/10 because its so relatable its scary. This does not mean all asexual people will relate to it, but I can tell you for sure it is a completely accurate depiction of what some ace people go through in life. As someone that is biromantic and ace, this book didn't need to be any longer than it was to have a massive impact on me.

I don't expect everyone to like it as much as I did, but if you're at all curious about asexuality or youre ace and want to see representation, This one is very good.

Romance here, romance there, I feel like there's not enough Ace representation in media. I need more, it's the only way I feel seen and understood.

I'm seeing quite a few mixed reviews of this little one shot (on Goodreads) and I can understand why. But, in my case, I don't really see the problem with it. As the mangaka has said in the Afterword, asexuality comes in different forms and not everyone is the same. The mangaka is also different than their own Ace character they have created, themselves being under the same spectrum.

I don't think it's harmful in any way either. It's not saying ... Ace x Allo can't ever have a relationship, but rather, it may happen to not work out for some people. It only told a story, a version of how a relationship would go for SOME.

I really liked Mine, he's such a cutie bean. I wanna protec. I wanted to know more about him. He deserves the world.

I wished it was longer.

As someone on the asexual spectrum, I think the depiction of asexuality here is alright but nothing special.

There's nothing wrong with the character of Mine-kun himself. In fact, he was the highlight of this manga for me. The main issue I have stems from the fact that Mine is not the main character. If we had more insight into his thoughts, I imagine the depiction of his identity would feel more natural. Instead, the main character is the girl who confesses to him. At times, it felt a bit like she was romanticizing the fact that Mine was asexual. The story also treats his ... asexuality as a sort of tragedy, which I'm not the biggest fan of. However, I understand that the story was more focused on presenting a certain scenario than trying to suggest that all asexual people are the same.

I wanted to like this manga more, but it simply doesn't delve as deep into asexuality as others I've read. If you want a short bittersweet story, read this manga. But, if you're looking to understand asexuality better or are looking for good asexual representation, you won't find that here. Overall though, I think this manga is mostly harmless and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was made by an asexual author. The afterword was by far my favorite part of this manga.
