THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ROMCOMS I HAVE READ IN A WHILE AND IM APPALLED AT ITS 6* RATING
Let me explain.
A breath of fresh air from its heavy and drama-filled counterparts (cough Oyasumi Punpun, Lie in april, 3-days cough), this romance/comedy/slight ecchi manga is the best of its genre. From an expressive array of lovable characters to solid sailing ships that don't leave the bitter taste of loss after reading about a love triangle, this manga truly amazes me as an avid romcom reader.

Story: 9

This is a simple yet fun tale about two characters who secretly love each other (revealed on 1st chapter ... not a spoiler), but can't seem to confess (in addition to the MAL summary). Similar to the works of other romcoms, this story might seem basic due to its generic outline. However, the small interactions and simple implications of love truly allows this manga to be entertaining. Many sub-plots and situations allow the characters to fall in love with each other even more as the story progresses, and it can be easily seen that when the confession occurs, it will be a satisfying, heart throbbing moment of pure joy.

The artistic aspect of this manga is HILARIOUS. The characters are already well drawn out, from our vivacious female MC to her straightforward and A+ student crush, but where this manga really shines in terms of art is in its comedic use of expressions. Remembers laughing at the faces characters would make in Grand Blue, Gintama, and Prison school? Well prepare to laugh yet again as this manga has expressions that I have personally screen shotted, saving for later usage during a group chat frenzy.

BEST PART OF THIS MANGA. The characters are simple yet lovable. They make you want to hug them indefinitely when they're sad or happy. The best part is that each character is shipped with someone else that fits them perfectly, allowing for the maximum amount of enjoyment one can obtain from reading a romcom. Every character has a special quirk that allows them to shine in some sort of way, adding to the wholesomeness when being shipped with other characters. There is no character that is left out, or is left as a static side character to add unnecessary drama to this masterpiece. Each character contributes to the enjoyment of this manga as a whole, and I continue to look forward to each characters story.

Binged all available chapters and am wishing for more. As of chapter 16, this manga is a true masterpiece that I can't get enough of. I was surprised as I didn't think much would come of this basic gal x studious guy ship, that often leaves me wishing for better written characters. If you enjoy romcom and/or hot gals enough to read until the end of this review, please do yourself a favor and read this manga.

What more can be said?

I thought it was alright.

Art was so-so: Feet were noticeably rough. Panel fillings were average-looking. Character art, anatomy, and style for the most part looked pretty good. The funny faces were funny.

Character dynamics were entertaining enough but felt repetitive towards the end. Mashiro and Hamada's dynamics were the most entertaining.

Plot development was fine. Rom-com hijinks.

Conclusion was good and was satisfying enough for what this manga was. Bonus epilogue chapter sorted out the rest of the side characters' relationships which I liked.

I thought this manga was overall average but the execution of its "selling point"/"plot quirk" was done well enough to keep me turning pages. ... Yeah, I'd recommend reading this. My favorite was Mashiro and Hamada.

Tedama Ni Toritai Kurokiya-San is a light-hearted and genuinely funny romcom between a “gal” and a “straight-forward” boy in high-school. The characters are portrayed pretty well with the male lead in particular being unexpectedly direct (something that almost the polar opposite of how most are portrayed in manga). The female lead also, is characterised with some exceedingly funny reactions and facial expressions which leaves you almost laughing out loud every chapter. In addition, alongside this is the recent introduction of an equally likeable side-cast.

The balance between humour and touching moments are pretty spot on with the various antics you’d expect to develop as the characters ... and backgrounds are introduced. Interestingly whilst the series should probably have an ecchi tag, it is minor and not overplayed at all so it fits the theme well. It’s still early in the series so the story hasn’t expanded much on wider locations or drama. Relationships are developing not too fast and not too slow so it’s a fairly entertaining experience so far.

The art is good and panelling clean so it’s a really easy read. If you’re a fan of light-hearted wholesome romcoms between unexpected pairings then you will enjoy this too.

This is a complete antithesis of the pathetic MC trope who constantly gets manipulated and seduced by a gyaru.

Instead, the MC is confident and straightforward. The female MC's attempts to wrap the MC around her fingers falls flat every single time. But he's not some generic ikemen. He is still technically a lovestruck guy, and his face still somehow looks like a typical, shy MC, except for his ripped body. He is in completely in love with the FMC, but that is the only thing he is unwilling to admit. For everything else, like threats to kiss and hug and be close to each other, ... the FMC is the one who always gets flustered and is at his mercy. It's quite entertaining to see.

Rating manga to me feels like it doesn't always have to be completely original. It just has to do it does well, and this series does it does that.

My big complaint here though is the quality of the art. I barely see anything cute about the FMC. She's almost always portrayed as a caricature. Even her normal face isn't something that attractive. The supporting FMC looks a whole lot better than the main one. I'm hoping this is just part of the progression though. That took this from a 9 to an 8.

Tedama ni Toritai Kurikiya-san is a manga in the unfortunately niche genre of gyaru romance. It follows a dumb as rocks girl trying to get her childhood friend to confess to her. The story has an interesting hook that the male lead is a comedically honest and straightforward person so when the lusty heroine tries to play the games typical of the genre her plans usually backfire.

The series kept things very brief at just under 40 chapters so perhaps my complaint about ... a thin plot is unwarranted, I would much rather praise the story for remaining mostly concise. A number of extra characters were added to pad the course of the story but most of them were enjoyable and fun.

The artwork had lots of cute and expressive panels but overall, the series isn’t particularly detailed or noteworthy.

Apologies for the rather brief review but I took large breaks between chapters and have been studying Japanese rigorously so only take my criticisms so harshly. I hope the author continues to make more manga. I saw something about a horny nun story they were doing but not sure what they’re up to. At the end of the day if you’re starved for gyaru romance stories this was one of the better stories I’ve read so far.

This is a romcom I somehow picked up and I don't remember why. The story follows Kurokiya as she tries to get a reaction from Tadao, her childhood friend and crush, by trying to be lewd. The main joke of the manga is how Tadao is straightface gang despite everything that Kurokiya tries to do.

When it comes to a comedy manga with this premise, it has to really lift itself up with something in order to be entertaining. I think this manga does that well as the mangaka knows how to make really exaggerated and humorous expressions despite the generally serviceable artstyle. It also helps ... that the series is only worth <50 chapters long, which makes for a light read that doesn't overstay its welcome. Also because of this length, the romantic development flowed in a pretty comfortable pace, in my opinion.

At the same time though, I can't say it filled my heart as much as other series when the main characters finally got together. There are a few side characters and they were fine too, especially Kurokiya's friend which made for a couple of comedic scenes here and there.
