I think this manga are only for mature readers because there's quite a lot of rape and gore which might be too much to some people.

I give it a 9 overall because of the unique art style and the story because it's really different from the other manga that I've read in the past.
I've never read a manga that's as dark as this.

Wolf Guy - Wolfen Crest, at least thats what onemanga calls it, is a manga about a werewolf named Akira. And that's a good enough introduction for me, so on to the review.

STORY: 8/10
Well, there are only 19 chapters out at the time of this review so theres not too much of a story right now. Although the little story there is seems to be good. Akira is in his last year of middle school and has just transfered into one of the most dangerous schools ever. Seriously. He walks into class on the first day, starts to write his name on the board, and ... before he's even finished he gets a knife thrown at him. Nice class, eh? So this is a fight manga where Akira gets beat up a ton, but he doesn't fight back because he feels humans are a waste of time. He just gets hit with iron pipes, bats, and fists, but he's basically invincible weather he's in werewolf form or not so he doesn't care.

When he has fought back it's pretty freaking cool and fun to watch. He hasn't revealed that he's a werewolf to anyone yet, so everyone is really confused as to why he can take a razor blade to the back and walk to school the next day unphased. Akira's teacher is suspicious of him so she is trying to figure out why Akira is the way that he is. I want to give the story a 9, but it's just too soon to be handing out scores that high for a story thats so premature.

ART: 8/10
This is a very dark manga and the drawings are just as dark. But sometimes the art can be too dark, and it's hard to tell what exactly is going on. Overall it is extemely well drawn, and the backgrounds and characters are all very uniquely drawn. Wolf Guy - Wolfen Crest definetly has it's own style. The art can be beautiful at times and scary at others. It really is great except for one little aspect which appears in thousands of other manga. The "middle school kids" look like they are all adults. Akira looks older than his homeroom teacher. Since this manga is obviously for ages 17+ I don't see why the mangaka decided to make the characters 14-15. However it really doesn't take away from anything aside from a little realism so I can half-way forgive him.

CHARACTER: 8/10
Well, you've got Akira (werewolf), his sexy homeroom teacher Ms. Aoshika, and a bunch of school delinquents. Akira has a pretty mysterious past so you don't really know much about where he comes from, but his homeroom teacher has already gotten a nice amount of backstory. Even a couple of the random school delinquients have had some good backstory which is very unusual, but very much appreciated. You understand why they are so mad all of the time, and why they bully others. For 19 chapters there is a perfect amount of back-story. It's not all given in one random flashback chapter either. You get bits and pieces gradually, and it really builds the characters.

Also, Akira is one badass mofo.

ENJOYMENT: 10/10
As I was reading through the epic fight scenes, admiring the beautiful artwork and totally immersing myself into the Wolf Guy - Wolfen Crest universe I was subconsciously thinking one thing: If only that hot homeroom teacher would get naked. I know its extremely pig-headed of me, but I wanted some nudity to go along with all the blood and cursing. Then BOOM! she was topless. Now, this manga was perfect. It had a badass main character, naked hot chicks, and werewolves. I dare anyone to come up with a more enjoyable combination of things than that.

OVERALL: 8/10
I already kinda summed up Wolf Guy in the Enjoyment part of this review so I'll make this short. Awesome. Yes. 8.

That’s right, you read #1 correctly—and yes, I know me saying that is close to the border of someone saying “I watch porn for the story.” I started Wolf Guy for the werewolves and stayed for the romance between Inugami and Aoshika. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a good romance and I loved the way their relationship was drawn out by the mangaka. It’s not often that I come across a non-shoujo in which I enjoy the love ...

This is one of those stories you either LOVE or HATE. dont go in expecting the best story youve ever read because this isnt what they were going for here (that being said i do like the story very much it just isnt the strong point of this manga). Pros - There is only one and that is the art. And I am not talking about all the masturbating and rape scenes, but the beast scenes. The lion's entrance, Wolf's close-up from chapter one were all awesome.

This is the worst anime or manga I have encountered. The only redeeming factor is the same sort of entertainment you get in watching your normally funny and charismatic friend fall down repeatedly when drunk.

Although I read this starting with no knowledge of how it relates to Akumetsu, that is pretty much where one has to start. Akumetsu was ridiculous and had bad art, so it is not like one should expect this team to be able to make some profound and dignified work. Akumetsu was, however, hilarious at a lot of times, and it gave itself a lot of room to create a lot ... of different situations. This one is tied down to a very limited scope, wannabe badass fights and a wannabe badass werewolf, so it has neither room for humor nor for any actual sort of journey like Akumetsu had. 56 chapters in, the only place this manga has gone is to replace "badass fights" with more weaponry and screaming at each other.

Where Akumetsu's art was used to make ridiculous situations humorous, the art here is used to try to be badass, but it fails because the artists are horrible and have no capability for this. For instance, the moon fails to actually be round multiple times (e.g. ch. 12, p. 19). Or perhaps when they try to show how utterly aroused that girl who they spend a lot of time having aroused to provide you fanservice with is supposed to be in heat, represented by throwing lots of lines above and beneath her eyes (i.e. ch. 53, p. 20). Or perhaps shown by Haguro going from looking like the Akumetsu protagonists, but drawn worse, to his face being drawn more and more like a wannabe Joker (as in Batman's Joker, evidence ch. 55, p. 02). There is never a time the art is used to show you something profound, interesting, or funny, but rather always exists to try to be stylistic and cool, and it never manages to be that either.

The characters here are not merely stale, but rather pretty much entirely lifeless. The main protagonist swaggers around grinning about how fucking tough 'n' stuff he is for forty chapters...and then he abandons that after going on a rant about how he would never abandon that, so that leaves him with what exactly? Other prominent characters include: teacher who has it tough, never does anything about it, and takes 50 chapters to realize she is "actually" in love with someone (meanwhile, we get to see her tits, which I think morphed from about F cups to H cups somewhere along the while, about ten different times); girl who likes powerful men and orgasms over wolfy boy more and more as the manga progresses; Haguro, powerful man distraught over no longer being most powerful man (and incidentally looks 30 as a 5th grader, what a character! ch. 43, p. 16).

The story never goes anywhere, as I have already alluded to previously. Some amateur philosophy is trotted out every now and then (getting worse as it goes along, like ch. 50, p. 09 with an incredibly weird fanservice page trying to spin her being turned on by wolfy boy as philosophy), some angst is trotted out every now and used to pretend a story is being established, and it thinks it is establishing some sort of story with how it "evolves" Haguro...but really it is just contradicting itself and focusing on "badass" behavior all the while. It tries to pretend it has substance with scenes like "oh look how into FOLKLORKE THIS KID IS! How unusual for a kid..." but this is flimsy stuff.

Really, the easiest way to sum this up is that it took all the excesses of Akumetsu, retained them, but dropped the humor and storylines. If the excesses of Akumetsu appeal to you so much that you still think it could be fun to see that "action"...well, enjoy! Otherwise, there are about fifty other parables of "monsters" and the like that are witty, cute, or best of all, actually substantial. I know it is trite to say, but very seriously go read a book instead of this.

The motto of this "review": Even if this was the one and only manga on Earth...

I want to make something clear at the beginning: this post should absolutely not be born as a review if commenting would be an available option on manga info pages. I've never ever felt such boiling frustration like this time after spending so little time with a story... Given, that the other 2 reviews fulfilled their tasks - giving an average overview on what you may expect from this erm... piece of work - rather "politically correct"ly, I yield to my burning emotions and channel them in writing these observations ... of mine...

Firstly,I have to give credit. The artwork is the one and only thing that made me read this manga up to volume 4 (and the hope - which dies last, but dies, eventually). However, this may be untrue for others because matters of taste. Still, the drawing is quite a decent one of his kind (even if it has to be blamed for awekening false hopes in me...)

And this is the point when all the good things that can be said - run out.
Namely, both the story and the characters are INCREDIBLY LAME. For the characters, one sentence will suffice: they're all made up of badly combined clichés. To the story now: There is no story, as such. Okay, we await a boss fight as well as a "boss fuck", but otherwise, it lacks everything a good story should have. No meaning, no actual moral/ethical/etc problems to solve, no twist, no suspense... (if I reflect upon what I have written till now, here I have a YaOI-stamp for the story [YaOI standing for no climax, no point, no meaning] except that in this case, the eye candy is supposed to be gore and bloody agression) etc. Maybe the perplexing absurdity of certain developments can be amusing in some was...for some people... o.O. Is it just me, or is there someone else out there wondering how appropriate a setting is a junior high school to a seinen manga? I cant stop being awed how irrealistically things are unfolding... Some nude girls pop up here and there bragging about being raped, body parts fly on the private (!) middle shool's playground and grenades in the gym and whatnot. Seriously... :D (my rage is slowly evaporating while laughingly recapturing all this ridiculus mess)
I admit, this mess cannot have been anticipated from vol 1 - but now, with vol 4, the niveau of the story has sunken so low, that it's impossible for the future chapters to reach even the "acceptable" level.

So, being left really nothing else to say, here I have my verdict as the continuation of the motto in the beginning:... I wouldn't continue reading this piece of... work.

Thanks for the patience. I really hope that I convinced some of you of not picking this series...

As a huge fan on this manga, I would like to warn you about some things in this story: First, it's heavy, and for psychologically strong people. If you are not, don't just say this manga is terrible, because it's perfect. You're the weak one. Are we clear? The reason why I wanted to review a manga I first saw 2 years ago it's because I saw a lot of reviews that hated Wolf Guy for the same reason: Weak heart. "Oh, Aoshika is raped for 5 chapters in a manga with 117 chapters, so that makes me hate the entire plot", for God sake, ... stop. "Oh, but a guy is raped as well, in a really traumatic and mortal way", alright, if you have such a weak heart why did you read a manga wich warned you about violence? Of course is gonna be violent! What was you hopping for, Naruto? That's a Seinen, not a Shounen, I'm sorry if it's too much for you, but that doesn't destroy the manga. Actually, makes it even more amazing. To begin with, I'm sorry, but Aoshika's Rape was the most realistic thing in Wolf Guy. Yoshiaki, the author, was trying to show Aoshika's feelings the best he could. When a girl is raped it looks like it has no end, that was her point of view, that's why it took so many chapters even though it was just one day. He did a great job. That wasn't for yours, or his, entertainment, it was to make it more realistic. You felt a hollow inside? That's amazing, that was the objective, you tough it was for you to like it? Of course not! Read it, get traumatized, and make sure to never be a raper, because that are girls right now passing by much worse moments and being raped for a lot more guys. At least Aoshika was drugged, that was almost kind of them. It exists amazing movies, wich nobody complains about, with much more traumatizing things. I already saw a movie wich talked about a true story of persons trafficking, and the girl was raped with a fucking pipe. A real story. So stop being a pussy and try to understand what this manga is trying to teach you: Rape is a terrible thing and you shouldn't do it. If this manga had no moral then Aoshika would have been excited on being raped while thinking "Oh, I shouldn't be liking it, Inugami, I'm sorry", but no, she hated it, she got traumatized forever and could barely talk to people after that. She went insane. That was not wrong, was reality, accept this. You don't have to enjoy this part of the story to make it good, of course I hated, but I was amazed because it was so well worked, because I saw the badass protagonist experiment a kind of loss he never did before. Maybe you can say "But he won the fight!", did he? The woman he loved was raped for a lot of guys, he's body was completely destroyed and he didn't even wanted this fight. That's a mature manga, and if you are a cute person wich only likes shoujo and the shounen "violence", wich is a lot different from a seinen violence, then you're just not the target audience for Wolf Guy. The manga had an open ending that destroyed all the readers, but thats cause Ookami no Monshou is an adaptation of a manga older than my mother, and the rest of the manga was just not adapted, but it exist. The art is a lot worse, but it's there, you just have to go after it, what can be quite hard. I couldn't find it online, I think I'll have to upload it.

Story (8):
Considering just the adaptation, Ookami no Monshou lose points for having and somewhat open ending and, of course, for the unrealistic story. Yes, it's fantasy, but the characters (15 years old) look like adults, act like adults, think like adults, they're just too mature and too crazy for been teens. But, besides that, the story it's just amazing, just like everything about Wolf Guy. Akira is a werewolf, one of the last (he thinks he's the last) werewolf alive in the earth. All werewolves are really unlucky, maybe cursed, and because of that bad people always get involved with him, even if he's a good person at heart and hates fights. He's pacific, and he's really pride of the nobility of wolves. He sees humans as stupid and weak, egoistic creatures wich he has to endure, but of course, that's cause only bad people get involved with him. Since he attracts bad people, he needs to transfer schools, but no school wants him, so he goes to a school were all the worse delinquents go to, since they're not accepted by other schools. It was initially a good school, and has a lot of smart students, but they are all oppressed by dangerous delinquents, like Haguro, the son of a Yakuza leader. In this school that only cares about image, and little about it's students, he mets Aoshika, his extremely hot teacher, and with time they fall for each other. They're relationship is just perfect, you just cannot hate it. Alright, the story basically talks about Akira and the dark side of humanity he meets because of his bad luck. I wanted to detail every single arc of the story. I cannot say more because, if I did, I would stay the rest of my life here, but it's quite amazing.

Characters (10):
Wolf Guy has some of the most incredible characters I've ever seen. The mangaka somehow managed so that even the secondary characters were well worked.
Akira: He's the protagonist. It's just impossible to not love him, he's proudfull, sarcastic, and kinda funny. He's noble, just like the wolves. He keeps his cool even in the worst situation with a smirk on his face and has quite the ability to annoy arrogant people, since he proves without strength that he's above them. Tough, direct and fair, he's not interested in making people like him, saying what he think it's right and showing in his voice that if he's sure of what he says, but he doesn't say anything when it doesn't concern him or when his not pushed. He's quite kind hearted, though he tries to prove even for himself that he's not, since he thinks humans doesn't deserve help. Yes, he's quite a guy, my crush forever. He's quite obsessed with his own race and researches a lot about wolves and werewolves, even writing about it, not only because that makes him even more proudfull about being a werewolf but because everybody knows so little about it that he wants to write a book being loyal to the reality, and not the fantasy, about werewolves.
Aoshika: She's mature in the most part of the story and, as a teacher, she tries to be respectful (hard, since everything she wears looks quite inappropriate in her) and tough, but she can't, since her class has the worst delinquents and she can't do anything against them even though she tries her best. But sometimes, specially with our protagonist, she looks kinda immature and even dumb, wich can be really funny sometimes, specially because she's trying so hard to do things she's gonna be pride of. She's optimist and negative at the same time, since she recognizes she's very unlucky (and complains about it all the time) but she always think "this time, if I do it like that, I will be able to overcome this", and I like this part of her. Her bad luck is closely related to her astonishing body, wich seems to turn anyone in a potential raper. Poor woman.
Haguro: Psychopat, crazy, scary, monstrous Akira's classmate. This guy is just too much. Imagine someone that will rip your fingers without changing his expression. Before meeting Akira he didn't smiled at all, he was cold, patient, smart and was satisfied with his trone. But Haguro has a problem, he's so cool because he never met someone who could stand with him. He's just too strong. He's an undefeatable monster. But he's just a human. Akira is a werewolf. And when he find's out about it he got scared for the first time in his life and really excited because a rival had appeared. He "knew" since the beginning he could defeat Akira and become a full monster. After this, he became even more crazy, strange and started smiling (but his smile it's like the one of a really crazy person), because he was just so happy that he met such a strong monster to be his first challenge in life. His feelings abou Akira are like: I hate you so much that I love you, and I love you so much that I have to destroy you because just thinking about it get me so turned on. Yes, I said turned on. Killing Akira became his fetish. Strange? So much that it's funny, I couldn't stop laughing, astonished, when I founded it out. That's a spoiler? Well, not an important one, it's equally interesting even if you know about it.
Ryuuko: She's not even an important character, but she's just so amazing I had to talk about her. Ryuuko it's that side character your gonna love because of her interestingness. She's such a son of a bitch, she doesn't care about anyone, I guess even Haguro has more feelings than her. Oh, but she has feelings like: She just love interesting things, she likes to see the circus on fire, she likes seeing other people's misfortune. In other words, she's a huge sadistic and masochist (more the first one). She likes strong people, that's why she's Haguro's girl (though she's not actually loyal) and that's why she gets so interested in Akira, wich is as (more) strong as Haguro. She's just too interesting, you never know what she's gonna do and even after she do it you can't believe she did. She's a troll, I guess.

Enjoyment (9):
Of course, as I said, it has some things in this manga wich will not please you. He's violent, heavy, dark and it's objective it's not to make you feel happy and warm inside when it's over. I just went crazy when it ended in such and opened and unpleasant way, but I steel restarted to read it. Why? Because reading it is just too enjoyable. I get surprised even when I know what it's gonna happen. I'm the type of person that enjoys craziness and, man, everybody is crazy in this shit, I can't stop laughing with the crazy things they do. I mean, OMG, I can't believe it. What I want to say is, I'm not a normal person, so if you're like me then you're gonna love this manga. I don't understand, I usually can't se torture or people getting so hurt as they do in Wolf Guy, but this manga doesn't affect me. Don't ask me, I don't know what's going on. If you think, by this review, that you can stand this story, than try it out, because it's extremely amazing, but if you though it's too heavy, disgusting or that something like this shouldn't exist, then just go read another thing. I don't care if you dislike this, most people do, but don't say it's bad just because your too weak for the violence.

Mixed Feelings

Oh boy! There’s a number of reasons you can pick this manga up for, and none of them are too good. This manga constantly fluctuates between trashy over the top ridiculous and genuinely, even if a bit guilty pleasure entertaining. It’s 6/10 in my opinion, which means that you can very well enjoy this, but you need to check beforehand if you can like what you’re getting into (I dropped it once, since nobody had warned me, but not to worry, I’ll try to help you!) and maybe you shouldn’t start it for the plot (It’ dangerous to go alone, take a fetish!), not that ... you’ll be able to focus on it anyway…

As for me I read it with gusto for: 1. The protagonist, who is so hot, you can fry eggs on him… or potatoes, or use him as a portative water boiler… well, you’ve got the gist. 2. Werewolves. I pay attention to werewolf fiction, since the rebel part of my soul refuses to accept the vampire supremacy – rooting for the underwolf, you know (see what I did here?). And this manga is werewolves-centric, them being the only kind of supernatural creature present. 3. A love story between a teacher and a student (which is the main lovestory of this work). 4. Fine art. No, seriously, the art is fine. Maybe edited photos don’t mesh with the rest well sometimes, but in general it is clear and beautiful. 5. Sex and violence, of course! And this manga has plenty of those, as a werewolf story must. It’s very fleshly in it’s storytelling, even though the characters motivations are mostly spiritual or psychological.

But that’s me of course. Perchance you’re not interested in hot boys… From my perspective liking this is also possible for you, if you like women bodies, even though a lot of frames do focus on the handsome cheekbones of the MC. Maybe you can superimpose, if you like OP characters, and also there is plenty of females in hentai situations or simply throwing themselves on the protagonist. There’s also delicious violence in industrial amounts.

And, undeniably, this manga will go right up the alley of wolfkin, otherkin in general, fans of stories that condemn humanity as opposed to other better misunderstood creatures. On the other side of the coin, it may appeal to those, who look for more bodily and cynical stories – after all the weak are trampled and despised here, and for all the talk about acceptance and feels, what characters do is mostly fight, kill and fuck.

So, plenty for everybody. You should be precise when scratching that itch though, so it’s absolutely necessary to specify and warn, thus – the no-noes:

- Rape: There’s plenty of it. It happens all the time, to be precise, but there’s also something like a hentai fanfic shoved in in the later stages (the best known fact about this manga). You can’t really avoid it, since it’s an important plot point, but on the other hand it’s extremely hard to even flip through. Definitely not something everyone would be able to stand.
- The ending: I can’t say I liked it too much, and many people don’t outright. It’s not a complete flush, but brace before the end. I also think that maybe the whole manga could be shorter.
- Something about violence: Despite what I’ve said about fighting, I wouldn’t call this battle manga. The violence is different kinds of one-sided, so it rolls more like injuries and cool battle posturing porn.
- Something about sex: It’s censored, and, unfortunately, almost never healthy. The main character is also mostly uninvolved.

And with all of this it’s actually an emotional roller-coaster with feelings everywhere and occasional character development! As far as I understand, this work has a long history, with at least two other adaptations and a series of novels paving the way, and you can tell – the characters are fleshed out, if not always complex, in the sense that there’s always plenty going on for them.
The plot is there, and it's not boring to follow, but it ends up serving the fantasy, in my opinion. I can't chalk it down as a failure, but I won't also say it's that much of a win, if you're not thirsty for another condemnation of humanity. The cast is black and white, despite the white being muddied, but I also felt dramatic shifts in my moods and opinions in some moments, though I can’t say whether it is the writing’s achievement or its failure (source material could help, but duh, not going to read). There’s plenty of silly stuff and pandering, and the main character doesn’t always act cleverly, though the fact that he understands that he is an idiot later somewhat helps. There's a lot of feels bait and torture-porn. But the thing I should give to this manga is that it has an appropriate amount of bitterness, which makes all the edgy stuff I usually hate palatable, since, after all, there is some truth to the teen angst, this truth being the suffering we all encounter.

It’s good that you’re reading reviews for Wolfen Crest. It's much better if you understand really well why you need it and are aware of its pitfalls in advance. Also - don't take it all that seriously. But if you’re in the mood and some stars align, it’s very likely you'll end up liking the time you've spend with it. It's good-looking, saucy and bloody – a good dish to wolf down in one or two sittings, as I did. Just try to treat is as picking a vict… meat – it’s not necessary for everyone, make sure to check beforehand and understand it’s slightly risky.

When I saw the art, I felt drawn to it. When I saw the title, I started to worry. When I got to the part of the story where he turns into a werewolf, I had a gut feeling I should stop reading this.

Art - The art is nothing short of excellent. I don't know how to describe it, but the characters look rather lively when they're surprised. I'm not talking about eyes opened wide with tiny pupils and a gaping wide mouth. This manga shows them on a good angle with a convincing expression. You can feel how smug, angry, or sad the characters ... are by looking at them.
However, there was a certain feeling I had. The characters have sexy faces and hair, and the teacher has huge breasts. Whoever drew this must've been a hentai artist or something. Unsurprisingly, there was some nudity and pretty hardcore stuff in here. I just skimmed the text and went to the next page quickly.

Story - Hah! There is no story! There's lots of blood, violence, and rape, though. You think it might be going somewhere, but 20 chapters in, it still isn't. If you want those things, you should check out Hellsing instead; the violence is more intense, there's actually a story, and it doesn't have nearly as much porn in it. If you want porn, go look some up; it has no place in this story.
The main character constantly complains about how worthless humans are and how superior and noble wolves are. His opponents attack him like a pack of hungry wolves, yet he's outraged when people compare wolves to those humans since a wolf would never do such a dishonourable thing! He thinks he's being a wolf by getting beaten to shit and doing nothing about it... I'm sure a real wolf would viciously maul a person in return.

Characters - The characters are pretty much a joke.

Teacher: Seems like an airhead with large breasts, but she has a bit of a more interesting side to her. She can be kinda playful without seeming like a complete whore. She can be a bit understanding and has thoughts of her own; she isn't just someone's bitch. She's too romantically obsessed with wolf guy for too little reason. She's a walking target.

Wolf guy: He's a walking contradiction with a fetish for wolves. He has pointy ears coupled with a smug face that makes him look like a demon, plus he heals from any wound no matter how severe, yet nobody seems to question this. He spends his spare time being a werewolf and tearing up the city without anyone seeing him.
He's a scrawny loner that gets bullied without fighting back at all; he just bottles everything up. I wasn't really bullied much as a kid, but I felt like I could relate to this part, and his character was probably intended so that people could relate to it. He typically hurts/kills/shames his opponents by simply taking their beating. Yeah, I bet scrawny loners around the globe would really like that.
The problem with his character is that he isn't consistent. He's an angsty teen going through some "changes" that confuse his emotions. He acts superior to his peers and thinks he's king of the world. It's not HIM that's wrong, it must be EVERYONE ELSE. He wishes he could just die because the human race is so pathetic, boo hoo. He's a mixture between someone that's a loner due to not fitting in and someone that's a loner due to finding everyone inferior, which is kinda like wanting companions vs. wanting loneliness. Contradiction alert.

Haguro: You think he'll be wolfy's rival or something since he looks demonic, but I guess he's just some disposable trash. I didn't read far enough to find out, but it seems like he's an average human with nothing special. No contest.

Slut: She seems turned on by violence and arrogance. Not much else to say about her.

Enjoyment - It leaves you on the edge of your seat wondering when something meaningful will happen. When you realize there's nothing, you feel a bit betrayed.

Overall - It's unfortunate that the artist wasted his time on this piece. They should remove the hentai, make the rape scenes just implied if they're really necessary; make the character either calm or moody, not both; add a goddamn story.
If you insist on checking this out, please know when to stop.

The story base is everything that a good shounen manga should be, and the way it progresses is pleasing to start with. The rivalry that builds between the main protagonist and the main antagonist is very cleverly constructed. Darker themes take the latter half of this series, and in no light sense.

So, going into this serie I was just expecting a somewhat fun action packed manga to enjoy. And it was, up until a certain chapter. From there on it just went down hill, and fast. Sure to put in some dramatic things to make the characters more interesting might be one thing, but to abuse this to something so saddistic as this writer how done is just beyond everything I've come across.

They had already reviled how the teacher had been raped before. But then to make her go through that again, again and again?! What was really the point of it all?! I regret ...

Was read the first chapter and hooked to this wonderful manga, I read it whole in one day what hooked me xd
The truth is that I did not know but apparently the author of this manga Akumetsu is the same, which have a volume at home and I'm looking forward to catching read it to me whole, and if it's half as good as It has been this into my top favorite manga undoubtedly.

Ookami no Monshou revolves around of the struggle of a young werewolf who desires no more than to live a normal human life. Unfortunately for him, that isn't exactly easy due to his proud nature and constant encounter with those guys you don't really want to mess with. The story focuses on how strong a will he has as he faces off against the darkest evils of humanity.

In short, the story is about a badass immortal dude fighting against the mentally unstable, and violent son of a gang boss. Our 'hero' Akira could give less about society as he has nothing but disrespect for ... the nature of humans and tries his best to stay out of trouble. However, Akira doesn't mind getting his hands dirty if he needs to maintain his peace so he quickly becomes enemies with Haguro Dou.

Thus their insane escapades starts, from carving people up, raping them, blowing them up, putting them full of holes… or at least tries to on some occasion. Dou really is a rich and spoiled guy who could care less about any other human being, and starts off rather emotionless. Thankfully, his insane obsession with defeating Akira causes him to develop into an even more twisted person, which you think wouldn't be possible.

The story does keep you amused throughout the 117 chapters for there is always something 'dangerous' happening. However, reading this manga is likely to make you want to become violent itself since there is never really any 'peace' obtained at any point. The story is in such high tension that it starts to go over the line from being a interesting and dark piece of work to being slightly disturbing.

The mangaka know how to draw for this type of genre though, and the artwork matches. However, the art isn't really sharp and when the scenes get more and more powerful the art gets more and more insane. By insane I mean messy, and grotesque. I mean does everyone have such giant bags under their eyes? They communicate their point though, and in case they didn't small narratives are added in. These can be good fillers for scenes that really don't need spoken words. Sometimes it is nice, but you also just might wish the scenes just were powerful enough they didn't require any words in general.

I feel like any feminist would be appalled at this Wolf Guy because frankly they didn't really implement their female cast wisely. In fact, the main fates of the female cast is to be used as sex objects. Aoshika really has no larger role than to act as a damsel in distress. She causes Akira to become more involved with humanity, but at the same time fails to contribute positively to the story. Don't get me started on Ryuuko, Dou's "fuck buddy," (that’s what she calls herself, not my choice of words), because that girl's insanity was on par with Dou's for the most part.

To summarize, Ookami no Monshou was a story that kept the excitement and tension relatively high, and keeps you rather eager to continue reading. The story is really violent though, and the cast a little weak causing it to rely heavily on Akira and Dou's struggle to try and keep one satisfied. I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone that wasn't looking for a very mature read. If that is what you eyes desire to see, then I would say look no further.

Clarification: English is my second language so I apologize for the grammar, the spelling and/or the incorrect usage of words.
First of all, this is not going to be a thorough review but more of a rant. Oh, and unexplicit spoilers ahead.
Violent dark story? Graphic depictions of horrible acts that make you want to look away? I have absolutely no problem with any of that, as some of my favorite manga include Berserk and Gantz.
So why is the biggest problem of this manga the graphic violence? Have I suddenly become a "snowflake"? No, simpler than that: here it is poorly, horribly done.
And ... I'm referring to something very specific here.
When you have a character brutally raped you are going to cause me an emotional pain of some degree. And I'm okay with that, as if I'm reading any story is because I expect to be emotionally invested and if something like that happens I'm gonna be hurt. Nothing wrong there.
Is the rape coherent with the world of the manga? Yes, it doesn't feel out of place and it's what you would expect from the grim reality of this fiction.
Is the rape motivated by something other than the tone of the story? Yes, it moves the main character to the final stage of the narrative by giving him a motivation, which is decent enough, although I wouldn't say necessary and some would even consider it untasteful/cheap to use it as a plot mechanism, but it's okay with me if it feels as if it was unavoidable in the world of the story.
Now, this manga makes the rape very explicit. I have no problem with that either; if the mangaka decided to depict it that way, I'm okay with it. There are other ways to make me understand much more closely what the characters are feeling, but I accept that explicity is the path you chose.
So everything is perfect by my book. You've made your point in depicting it the way you wanted it, the horrifying nature of what is happening is engraved in my mind and it served a purpose to the narrative.
But then you go on, and you go on, and you keep on going and I can't help but wonder, is this even "mature" content anymore or am I seeing porn?
Yes, at one point it became so unnecessary that it made me feel as if a rape scene was porn. "Am I supossed to be jerking off?" Is what I thought. You could say the artists were trying to be truthful to what was going on, but if that was the case, then the perspective was very wrong.
"Mature" my fucking ass. Rape can usually serve to stablish or reinforce the tone of a story or as a plot device, the specific case I'm referring to accomplishes the second (the tone needs no reinforcement at this point), as I previously said. But why does it keep on going for five chapters? For what fucking purpose?
Emotional exploitation, male power fantasy (of course her pain is seen countless times through the MC's eyes and he's eventually her savior), morbid fascination, and shock value. Those are the reasons why this rape porn fuckfest exist.
Being disgusting is besides the point, it's rape, it's supossed to be. But it's badly written, and what becomes disgusting is not only the act depicted in the manga, but the manga itself.
Also, rape is not necessarily deep nor mature, and if you think otherwise you're very clearly immature.

TLDR: Rape here very bad; they tried to be gritty and ended up making porn. Oh and y'all mentally 13 for thinking this is mature.

I wish a review could have told me this before finished reading all of it, DONT read this if you’re hoping for a satisfying or ‘happy’ ending.

If you insist on reading it go ahead, but there is no sense of joy derived from reading this. I’ll keep it short and simple, if you like violence, gore, human depravity and stunning art go for it.

Story- it was okay, it was definitely unpredictable. Some parts of it are characterised as ‘romance’ but it’s really not, romance is more of a sub plot. Deep analysis could make it a ‘masterpiece’ but anyone could analyse anything to ...

I wouldn't say this manga deeply affected me on a spiritual level or anything (lmao) but its worth taking a look at. The main character, at first, seems like your average antihero. He saves a woman in the park late one night and leaves a shocking impression by getting beaten up and then disappearing. Next day, bam, he shows up as a transfer student at the school where she is a teacher. 5/5 cliché so far? I thought so too. But as you progress through the chapters, the plot thickens and some intriguing characters appears.

It's rare that I finish (or even get very far) with an anime or manga that I end up hating, but it does happen from time to time. When it does, there's usually some sort of horrible reason associated with it, and in this case it was because of a recommendation from someone whose suggestions I have enjoyed in the past.
