You start with your typical cliche. The art seem nice and very expressive.
But the story and the flow of it is really left to be desired.
Dean is a porter for adventurers and wish like many to become recognized and be on the top. He is your under-average adventurer with a very weak mind. His combat experience is lacking, his combat sense is none and his actual motivation is very basic and doesn't really evolve further from wanting to be the best.
There is some character development and plot twist but the pacing is odd at best.

"Boushoku Hi no Ken" is about an adventurer who has been left behind by his party as cannon fodder. However, he accidentally encounters the core of the powerful demon Belzebub, who has been trapped in the dungeon for a very long time due to her core form. Out of desperation, the protagonist makes a pact and a demoness appears, who is wearing very few clothes and is of course over 3000 years old...
Either I was really unlucky and stumbled across an incomplete version, or the manga is really not good. In general, there's a lot of the standard stuff here that you might expect in ...

Overall thoughts -
Boushokuki no Ken, overall feels like a missed opportunity that could be a lot better than what it is. A Fantasy title marred by mediocre progression of the story. It truly is mediocre, because as the reader continues to read it, it's all the same old formula in many other shounens.....and that's the problem. It claims to be a Seinen, yet the story overall feels like a typical Shonen manga. Well I guess adding in some adult themes of blood and big tits probably makes it a Seinen, which to be fair, shonens add plenty of fanservice too no doubt. But Seinen ... |
