Lonely Girl in Sakaraenai is a simple yuri manga with nothing really exciting. The premise is alright, I kinda like the way it was going and then we went on with the typical romance tropes. Honestly, I don’t necessarily feel disappointed, It’s just an okay-ish manga.
I will give the mangaka some props though. He (or she) didn’t drag it for long, didn’t milked it for no reason. They were strangers, then friends, then lovers and happy ending.
The drawing is quite good, the surroundings are well drawn, I like it.
If you are a yuri enjoyer you’ll like this manga, there’s nothing wrong with it. No

As a lover of yuri, this is one of the better works out there. TLDR - beautiful characters, feel good story, just the right amount of sweetness and stupidity to make it a wonderful yuri.
Obviously it has it flaws. The main premise is shaky to say the least. A teacher asks the class rep to bring an absent girl to school in exchange for a letter of recommendation. The MC then goes to her house and the girl agrees in exchange for being granted "requests", first of which being a kiss. You can tell what happens from there. But that it exactly the essence of a ... In short: It's like a bowl of chicken soup: nothing complicated, but it's enjoyable and warms the soul.
Is it complex, with exciting highs and depressing lows? No. Did it feel like an arduous journey filled with blood, sweat, and tears? Nah not really. Is it simple, comforting, and lovable? Absolutely. The story isn't special but it makes you smile. Most "conflicts" are resolved quickly or without much build up. Admittedly this could be seen as a flaw, but I would argue that it works in this story. The manga doesn't try to be anything more than relaxing and wholesome, and it succeeds. Characters aren't complex, but still lovable. What ... Jun 27, 2020
Reading this yuri manga called Can’t Defy the Lonely Girl. So far, it is a cute read. It is about a high school girl named Ayaka Sakurai who gets anxious when taking exams. As such, she ended up going to a lesser high school. Then comes the teacher asking her to convince a delinquent girl to come to school. That girl, Sora Honda, agrees to come to school, but in return for “requests.” So it’s that kind of manga.
Ultimately speaking, I am enjoying reading the manga, but at the same time, it tragically falls into the same issues that works like Hino-San No ... Apr 10, 2024
lonely girl isn't anything special really. it's story is simple, the art is cute, and overall it's just really adorable. If you are looking for something a bit more mature, maybe pass on lonley girl. But if you like cute yuri fluff then read this for sure. lonely Girl doesn't need to have the most interesting story and in depth character arcs. It's straight up tooth rotting and im ok with that! The main characters are writen well and even the side characters get some action. I highly recommend this title for anyone who just wants to read

Lonely Girl ni Sakaraenai is a difficult one to pin down for me. The blackmail premise is spicy, but the pacing and tropey nature of some of the interactions kinda hamstring my enjoyment of it at the same time. Like, it's good enough, but it could've been great, and that's actually almost worse than it being mediocre.
See, I like it when GL works don't beat around the bush too much. It was my problem with Citrus, my problem with Bloom Into You, my problem with a lot of Korean works (Partition still keeps me awake at night), and why I love works like How Do ... Dec 27, 2022
BRIEF WARNING: If you're familiar with the series Citrus you'll at least know to an extent that it has a rather "bad" experience within the Yuri community, a lot of people don't like how it's extremely forced and nonconsensual most of the time. This manga does take a similar toll just like citrus does with the slightly forced aspect but later in the series, it does become consensual, the reason I'm stating this is because I feel like giving this warning before encouraging you to watch will make your experience a lot better. YES, it begins with Sora and Sakurai's relationship being pretty forced and

The initial dynamics of the relationship may raise concerns due to their somewhat toxic nature. At first, I feared it might follow the pattern seen in many yuri manga and anime, where a significant portion of events shaping the relationship tends to be toxic or even perilous. However, this story takes a refreshing turn. The progression of the relationship is remarkably thoughtful, delving into themes of communication challenges, doubts, fears, and courage. It avoids fantastical elements and relies on a straightforward yet effective foundation. Every character, including secondary ones such as friends and teachers, is both endearing and well-crafted, contributing to the overall narrative. It's

TL;DR -- some nice fluff dragged down by tropes of the genre.
I don't usually read yuri (at least unless the premise intrigues me), but I am a sucker for a fluff romance so I do undergo an occasional binge of the girl-on-girl manga. For the most part, the reason I tend to avoid not just yuri but yaoi as well is that a lot of the stories get consumed by either JUST that, or the surmounting tropes of the genres. Lonely Girl is kind of both; there is just a tinge too much dependence in terms of characterization for me. It feels as though ... |
